AIFF announces 62-film lineup to screen Oct. 3-6

AIFF held a preview night for the upcoming film fest on Sept. 18. The arts, environment, and social activism are three of the main movie themes making up the list for AIFF 2024, coming up Oct. 3-6. Obituary: The Rev. Bert Anderson Jr.

Obituary: The Rev. Dr. Bert Axel Anderson Jr. died Aug. 13 at the age of 95 at Celia’s House in Medford. Bert Anderson directed Atelier, a popular playwrights’ and actors’ workshop that provided a free venue for dramatic readings of new plays by local playwrights in Ashland. A memorial service will be held for Bert at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 44 N. Second Street, Ashland.

Main Street paving due next week Monday and Tuesday

Major roadwork is planned next week Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 30 and Oct. 1, through downtown Ashland, the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) has announced. The southbound lanes of North and East Main Street — aka Highway 99 — are set for grinding and paving Monday from Maple to Third streets while the northbound lanes of Lithia Way and Main Street from Third to Maple streets is planned for Tuesday.
