Ashland panel discussion focuses on impact of racism in Southern Oregon

As part of a panel discussion Tuesday hosted by the Urban League of Portland on the Southern Oregon University campus and live streamed to remote viewers, the head of the Urban League of Portland reflected on the murder of Black 19-year-old Ashland teen Aidan Ellison nearly two years ago, saying “many in the community want more conversations to be taking place about why, how, and what happens next.”

Urban League hosts ‘Community Conversation’ in Ashland on Tuesday

The rise of white nationalism in the state of Oregon and its impact on Southern Oregon will be the theme of a community conversation from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, in Ashland, the Urban League of Portland has announced. Panelists will also honor “community champions who are doing dynamic work to advance the movement forward,” according to an event announcement.
