Standing Stone announces closure on May 29

Standing Stone Brewing Co. will permanently close its family-owned brew pub at 101 Oak St. in Ashland, it announced on its website Tuesday, May 10. To thank the community for its support, Standing Stone plans to host a farewell celebration from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 29, closing day, with pints priced at $3, “just as they were on opening day back in 1997!”

Ashland City Council re-votes, reverses prior denial of Recology rate increase

Starting July 1, Ashlanders can expect a rate increase for garbage and recycling services, a result of rising costs in the region and around the state and country. The Ashland City Council voted 4-2 on Tuesday to raise the rate by $1.38 per month for typical residential customers, at Recology’s request, reversing a prior denial the city attorney said was likely a contract violation.
