Esther Hicks, channeling Abraham, tells us that we are non-physical beings projecting a part of ourselves into our physical bodies. We intentionally and consciously chose to experience the physical universe while the greater part of ourselves remains and supports us in the non-physical.

As humans, we are constantly in search of that part of us that remains in the non-physical. We seek the feeling and experience of total unconditional, unlimited Love that we experienced and knew before we stepped into our spacesuits/bodies.

There is a yearning to step out of the illusion of separateness and back into the wholeness and the bliss of the Divine, which is our true nature. Our entire lives are spent in search of the wine of the Divine Love, either in a conscious or unconsciousness way. What we actually came to do was to play and learn. Yet we tend to forget who we are and what we are here to do, and it is in our forgetfulness that we wander in search of something we think we have lost.

The more we move away from our true nature, the more we travel down the path of forgetfulness of what we really are, and our lives seem to not work well. We can feel lonely, angry and depressed.

This search to re-experience the Love of the non-physical comes in many forms. When we are infants, the love and closeness of our mothers (if we were fortunate to be with one) reminds our soul of the Divine Love. As we get older, we seek Divine Love with our playmates and friends. Then come social circles. Many find the loving remembrance in Nature, Art, beauty, and religious devotion and practice.

Some search for this love-connection through the use of mind-altering substances. For most, the best reminder is that of romantic love. So many stories, expressions, and tragic acts have been driven by romantic love; “What we wouldn’t do for love.

Ultimately, one can imagine or visualize that depth and intensity of Divine Love as our full attention is sometimes turned to the Divine. The Divine becomes our friend, our lover, our closest confidant.

It is the illumined soul who goes about playing and creating with the remembrance of their intention of why they deliberately stepped into the physical.

The next time you feel this yearning (or maybe you feel it most of the time), may I suggest that, whatever path or practice you have to take to make you feel closer to the Divine Love, you engage in it with great intent and consciousness.

I think you will find a much fuller and richer experience.
