Crowds lined Main Street as Santa, accompanied by reindeer, dancers and dozens of other celebrants gaily bedecked in seasonal regalia, made his way Friday to Ashland Plaza, where he addressed the crowd from the Brickroom balcony before flipping a switch to turn on more than a million lights illuminating downtown.
The 30th annual Festival of Light Celebration kicks off the Ashland holiday season on Friday, Nov. 25, with Santa’s arrival on the Ashland Plaza, culminating in the “Grand Illumination,” when more than one million lights throughout town are turned on.

On the second anniversary of the killing of Aidan Ellison, Ashlanders gathered for a candlelight vigil on South Mountain Avenue Wednesday evening.
