Ashland Parks & Recreation Commission authorizes 4% cost of living raise for employees

Ashland Parks & Recreation Commissioners unanimously voted Sept. 14 to formally oppose two measures headed to the November ballot that they believe would negatively impact the commission’s role and relevance, and voted 4-1 to approve a 4% cost of living adjustment for parks employees that the commission plans to pay for through payroll savings from leaving some positions unfilled.

Ashland moves toward reducing number of citizen commissions

The city of Ashland’s current 16 citizen commissions will be pared down to just three under a streamlining plan discussed by the Ashland City Council at its regular study session meeting Monday and approved Tuesday. Another 12 panels would be set up as either standing advisory committees or management advisory committees, for a total of 14 panels.
