Brush fire also burned some fencing, but stopped before spreading beyond a half-acre
A grass fire just southeast of the intersection of Crowson Road and Highway 66 was quickly extinguished Friday afternoon, according to reports from Ashland Fire & Rescue and Jackson County Fire District No. 5. ODF Southwest Oregon District also responded.
“Due to a quick and overwhelming response, the fire was contained at a half an acre,” reported Ashland Fire & Rescue. “No evacuations were needed due to the fast knock down. Great job team!”
The cause was accidental, according to the JCFD No. 5 report. Traffic was stopped on Highway 66 and Crowson Road while the fire was put out.
