Talent, Ashland students, families also welcome to free resources

Ashland.news staff reports

Through a partnership with Jackson Care Connect, Phoenix-Talent School District is hosting its first Healthy Start Block Party at Phoenix High School from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23. The free community fair will offer a wide range of free resources to local students and their families, including from Talent and Ashland.

All local families are welcome to attend. District organizers anticipate a large crowd. Well-child checks, athletic physicals, dental screenings will be available, all free. Free kids’ haircuts will also be offered, as well as school supplies (first come, first served). Games and giveaways will be offered, as well as face painting and free food for all attendees.

“We’re excited to partner with Phoenix-Talent Schools on the Healthy Start Block Party this year,” said Jennifer Lind, Jackson Care Connect CEO. “It’s a great opportunity for families to address all of their back-to-school health needs, like wellness visits, dental screenings, haircuts and more. Everyone in the community is invited to explore the wide range of health, education, school supply, and other resources that partners are offering. There will truly be something for everyone.”

The district anticipates holding a similar event every August at 745 N. Rose., Phoenix.
