Volunteer training set for Wednesday, Aug. 20, at Little Creek Ranch in Ashland

Ashland nonprofit Riding Beyond is taking signups for volunteer training and four-week sessions.
Riding Beyond’s mission is to assist individuals who have experienced trauma through breast cancer treatment, and since 2021, have extended services to those who have experienced trauma related to COVID-19 and wildfires. The programs focus on the benefits related to relationships between horses and humans.
Since 2013, Riding Beyond has offered free spring and fall four-week sessions to breast cancer survivors, Saturday monthly sessions from May through September for the general public, and weekly meditation circles with horses to the general public throughout the year.
Volunteer training is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Aug. 20, at Little Creek Ranch in Ashland. Several volunteer slots are available for September sessions. Volunteers will meet the horses and learn about the impacts of horse and human connections.
Four weekly three-hour sessions are scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday or Wednesday mornings beginning Sept. 2 and 3, also at Little Creek Ranch. These sessions are designated for those recovering from breast cancer treatment (either recently or in past years), COVID-19, wildfires, and other environmental trauma.

The website contains information, stories and videos for volunteers and participant as well as research regarding the benefits to the horse and human relationship.
