Obituary: Jean Ann Wood

Jean (Jeannie) Wood moved to Ashland in the early 1970s.

Jean (Jeannie) Ann Wood, a longtime resident of Southern Oregon, died May 31.

Jean loved visiting the Oregon coast with her husband, Woodie.

Born in Los Angeles, Jean moved with her husband, “Woodie,” to Ashland in the early 1970s, following family, looking for a quieter life.

She took a job as a teller at First Interstate Bank in Ashland, Over the years, she worked her way to bank manager at what would eventually become Wells Fargo Bank.

Jean survived a stroke that paralyzed her left side at the young age of 50. She persevered, learned how to walk again and continued enjoying life. She loved traveling to the Oregon coast with her husband, reading a good book and watching NASCAR with her family.

Jean was the proud daughter of Country Music Hall of Fame music artist Johnny Bond (“Hot Rod Lincoln”), middle sister of three and a dedicated mother to her only child, Rachelle (Wood) Beveridge.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother (Dorothy Bond) and her husband of 55 years, H.L. “Woodie” Wood. She is survived by her daughter and sisters Susan (Bond) Hawley and Sherry Bond.
