James Douglas “Jim” Long died peacefully in his sleep on Dec. 15 with his son Toshio (Wesley) by his side.
He loved his children and was always earnest that they knew it.
He loved his longtime companion Lisa Moore, who is a steadfast and gentle soul and who shared his passion for words, literature, the theater and love of the outdoors.
Jim was an avid writer, fly fisherman and follower of motorsports.
He will be remembered for his deep connection to nature and a quirky, pun-y sense of humor that he shared with everyone in his fife.

Jim is survived by his children Toshio (Wesley) Omura-Long and Virginia Long, by Lisa Moore, by his grandson Noah Powell, and by his former wife Diana Versluis. He was preceded in death by his son Travis Long.
We send him off with wishes for “heavy hatches, rising fish and always the right fly.”
An event honoring his memory and life will take place at a future time.
