‘Twilight Terrain’ features trails with brand-new LED lighting upgrades

It’s not necessary to call it a day of skiing or snowboarding at Mt. Ashland Ski Area when the clock strikes 4.
Beginning Thursday, Jan. 9, a “Twilight Skiing and Riding” period will give skiers and riders time to explore several lighted trails. From 3 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays through Saturdays, night skiing and riding will be offered on “Twilight Terrain,” trails with brand-new LED lighting upgrades.
Twilight Terrain is being planned through mid-March on the Sonnet, Comer and Windsor ski lifts at a cost of $28 for adults and $22 for youth. Also available is skiing and riding from noon to 9 p.m. with $79 for adults and $69 for youth. The Bottom and Windsor chairs close at dusk. Twilight season passes are available for purchase on Mt. “Catch some turns after work or treat your whole family to a sunset on the mountain,” urge mountain managers.
Several special events are planned in coming weeks, including Ladies Rail Jam 2025 on Jan. 17; Slopestyle No. 1 on Jan. 31; Mt. Ashland Skimo Summit on Feb. 1; Bavarian Night (a fundraiser for the ski patrol that includes live music, traditional Bavarian food, a torchlight parade and a fireworks show) on Feb. 15; Rail Jam #2 on Feb. 21; and Slopestyle #2 on Feb. 28.
Several events are scheduled in March, including Diva Day (join the women of the Mt. Ashland Ski Patrol on Feb. 1; High School Alpine State Championships on March 5; Banked Slalom on March 23; and Dummy Downhill on March 29. April events begin with Access Ski & Ride Against Hunger Day on April 6; Big Mountain Bash (end-of-season celebration) on April 12 and 13; and Pond Skim, also on April 12.

The ski area also announced they are seeking more lift operators. “Ski or ride during the day and work in the evenings and enjoy all of the amazing benefits that come with working at Mt. Ashland,” says a ski area notice. Benefits include a complimentary 2024/25 season pass, discounts on food and retail items, partnerships with local businesses — “plus the views are unmatched.”
