Letter: ‘Who rules this country?’

Who rules this country?

We the people? I doubt it. The Congress, our elected officials? I doubt it. Consider this:

In his inaugural address, Abraham Lincoln remarked that “the candid citizen must confess that if the policy of the Government upon vital questions affecting the whole people is to be irrevocably fixed by decisions of the Supreme Court,” then “the people will have ceased to be their own rulers, having to that extent practically resigned their Government into the hands of that eminent tribunal.”

Today, we the people have ceased to be our own rulers. We have resigned our government into the hands of the Supreme Court.

Samuel Alito’s stated in the major opinion that the Constitution does not refer to abortion at all. This is a weird argument. Here is my question: The Constitution does not refer to traffic lights or high-power guns either, why are they not banned?
