Letter: A draft dodger shouldn’t steal the spotlight on the U.S. Army’s birthday

June 13, 2025

I do not want this to get lost in the news. The U.S. Army has been planning its 250th birthday celebration for two years; it’s on June 14. This day has been stolen from the brave women and men who defend this country and our freedoms.

Please join me in making June 14 about the true celebrants, our incredible service women and men and our flag. It is a disgrace to see this stolen by a draft dodger.

June 14 should be a proud 250th birthday celebration recognizing the U.S. Army’s exceptional service to our nation. For two and a half centuries, the U.S. Army has offered countless opportunities for individuals to serve our country and protect our freedoms. With over 200 career paths for soldiers and more than 500 options for civilians, the possibilities within the Army are genuinely boundless.

Happy 250th birthday to the U.S. Army!
