Unfounded report of burglary in progress brought police, deputies, K9 unit to the scene

By Morgan Rothborne, Ashland.news

A brief commotion in the parking lot of Rite Aid in south Ashland Thanksgiving evening was due to the trigger of the building’s alarm, according to Ashland Deputy Chief of Police Dan Moulin.

Multiple alarms prompted a report of a burglary in process at the Rite Aid in Tolman Creek Plaza Shopping center at the intersection of Ashland Street and Tolman Creek Road, Moulin said in a Friday morning email.

“APD personnel responded and were assisted by a Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Deputy and his K-9 to search the building,” Moulin wrote.

No one was found inside the closed business, nor was there any evidence of a crime. It is unknown what tripped the alarm, he said.
