Lucretia Weems, author of “The Wild Life: Heroines in the History of Botany 1650-1850,” will be at Bloomsbury Books 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11.

They explored, collected and propagated plants alongside a large majority of men, their endeavors often barely acknowledged and their names forgotten.
