RVML Tuesday Night Lecture Series : A Philosopher Explores the Six Faces of Climate Denialism with Daniel Scotton

Meet the six faces of climate denial, not as caricatures to dismiss, but as recognizable patterns of thought that still shape how we talk about climate change.

By giving these patterns names, we gain new language for spotting them in everyday discussions and for engaging more thoughtfully with friends, colleagues, and communities.

Rather than trudging through old arguments, this talk offers a framework for understanding why denial persists in many forms and how recognizing it can open space for more nuanced, constructive conversations about solutions.

Born and raised in Southern Oregon, Daniel Scotton spent the past decade building pathways for leadership and equity, from coaching DECA students in public speaking and ethics to developing inclusive workforce programs. Formerly contracted with the Department of Human Services, Daniel supported low-income families reentering the workforce, while also coordinating refugee support events with partners like the Center for Nonprofit Legal Services.
