The Ashland Monster Dash, a race series featuring competitors decked out in Halloween garb, will return for its 15th year on Saturday, Oct. 28, near the Band Shell in Lithia Park, according to a news release. The event will feature in-person 1-mile, 5K, and 10K distances, with prizes for the top finishers in each race. “Virtual” races will also be available, with participants running a set distance anytime between Oct. 21 and 31 and uploading their times to the Monster Dash website, www.ashlandmonsterdash.com. Payment and registration information is also available on the website. The 5K and 10K races start at 9 a.m., and the 1-mile race starts at 10:30 a.m. An Activity Village will be held near the finish line, featuring family crafts, exhibits, live music, entertainment, contests, and auction items. It will be available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is a collaboration between Ashland Kiwanis Club and the Ashland Schools Foundation. Funds collected at the event will go toward classroom grants in the Ashland School District, which can be used for classroom projects, materials, supplies, and specialized support.
