Emergency shelter to open in Ashland Monday

With severe weather forecast, Pioneer Hall to open for three nights

An emergency severe weather shelter will be open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights, the city of Ashland has announced.

The shelter at Pioneer Hall, 73 Winburn Way,  opens each night at 5 p.m. starting Monday, Nov. 28, with lights out at 10 p.m. 

Individuals should provide their own bedding. Well-behaved pets are welcome.

The shelter closes at 9 a.m. each morning through Thursday, Dec. 1.

Rain is forecast for Ashland for Monday, with the snow level dipping to about 2,600 feet, according to the National Weather Service forecast as of Saturday afternoon. Downtown Ashland is a little under 2,000-foot elevation. The high is forecast to be 40 degrees, with an overnight low of 25.

Highs Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to be about 41 and 44, respectively, with lows of 28 and 30.
