Lows forecast to be below freezing through Monday

A severe weather emergency shelter will be open Thursday through Sunday nights at the Ashland Public Library, the city of Ashland has announced.

The shelter in the Gresham Room, downstairs at the library, 410 Siskiyou Blvd., opens at 6 p.m. Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, then closes at 9 a.m. Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday mornings.

Doors close at 9 p.m. nightly, with lights-out at 10 p.m. This is a no-frills shelter, which means individuals should plan on providing their own bedding. Only service animals are allowed in the library.

For additional information or if you are interested in volunteering at the shelter, contact community volunteer Avram Sacks at 541-220-7307.

High temperatures are expected to be 42, 45, 49, 46 and 51 Thursday through Monday, respectively, according to the National Weather Service forecast as of Wednesday evening, Jan. 18. Lows are projected to be 22, 29, 31, 28 and 32 Thursday through Monday evenings. No rain or snow is in the forecast.
