Discount of up to 50% available for those earning up to $40K for a single individual, $85K for family of four

In time for the cooling of temperatures, the city of Ashland has announced a return of its assistance program for low-income resident’s utility bills, according to a release from the city. 

The Ashland Low Income Energy Assistance Program (ALIEP) program is open to residents whose income is at or below 65 percent of Oregon’s median income, determined by household income and size. 

Those who qualify will receive a credit on electric utility charges. Seniors and those who are disabled could qualify for up to 50% off their bills for up to six months. Other eligible residents may qualify for 50% for three months. The maximum credit for any qualifying residents is $300, according to the release. 

Applications opened Oct. 1 and will close Jan. 31. Applications are available through an online form or by calling 541-552-2038 to request a Low-Income Assistance application packet in the mail. Income verification is required.
