Talent Garden Club, city asks for item to be returned, no questions asked

By Holly Dillemuth, Ashland.news

Talent Garden Club and city of Talent officials are asking for the return of a small but important feature of the city’s new tiny park.

The beekeeper Lego was a gift from Allie French, executive director of Talent Maker City, to the city of Talent, and was placed in the tiny park at its unveiling last week. The gift has gone missing from the park enclosure.

The park, created in partnership with Talent Garden Club, is seeking certification as the smallest in the world from the Guiness Book of World Records. The smallest park in the world title has been held for many years by Mill Ends Park in Portland.

Gerlinde Smith, of the Talent Garden Club, was saddened to hear from a friend about the missing figurine.

“It was just so sweet, this little lovely Lego display and so appropriate,” Smith said. “It breaks my heart.”

Smith said she told Talent Mayor Darby Ayers-Flood and that she was also saddened by the news.

Smith said she doesn’t know if the city and garden club will ever get it back but she said if there is someone out there who has it, to return it to City Hall with no questions asked.

“Anyone that has taken them, I would love them to return them, nothing, just return them,” and we can even assemble it ourselves,” Smith said. “That would be my wish for this tiny little park that to us has become so special.”
