Parking along parade-route section of Main Street forbidden starting at 3 p.m. Thursday

The Ashland Police Department will be out and ready to ensure a fun and safe annual children’s Halloween parade, according to a department release Wednesday. 

The parade begins at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Halloween, in front of the Ashland Public Library at 410 Siskiyou Blvd., then proceeds west along East Main Street to the Plaza. 

Lithia Way will be converted to accommodate two-way traffic in order to close East Main Street between Gresham Street and Water Street from 2:30 to 6 p.m. to make way for the parade. No parking is permitted in the area, and vehicles left parked in the area will be towed beginning at 3 p.m., the release said. The no-parking areas will be clearly posted ahead of time. 

“Enforcement will be strictly administered when police observe acts such as disorderly conduct, public intoxication, consuming alcohol in public, open containers of alcohol in public, illegal drug use, or any other violations of state law and municipal code. … The City of Ashland Police Department hopes everyone will have a safe and enjoyable Halloween!” the release said. 

Police personnel from surrounding agencies will assist APD as they monitor the annual growth and regional tourism for the beloved event.
