The Ashland Community Health Foundation awarded a cumulative $235,880 to eight local nonprofits, with funds intended to start or augment health and wellness programs in Ashland, Talent and Phoenix.
Nonprofits submitted proposals to receive the funds earlier this year.
“After careful review of our most competitive applicant pool to date, the ACHF board approved awards for the following organizations that strive to bridge gaps in services and improve health outcomes for the community,” an ACHF news release said.
Recipients include:
- The Ashland Community Food Bank, which will put the money toward expansion of the nonprofit’s home delivery program for Ashland and Talent residents with health, mobility or transportation challenges.
- Jackson County Sexual Assault & Response Team, which will use the funds for its Survivor Care Program, “which provides specialized and comprehensive care to survivors of domestic violence in hospital settings,” the release said.
- La Clinica, which will add a new health care provider at its Southern Oregon University Student Health & Wellness Clinic.
- Rogue Valley Farm to School, which will offer more garden and cooking education modules for students and their families through the Roots of Change program.
- Rogue Valley Mentoring, which will expand mentoring services to Ashland High School “to help overcome barriers to youth mental health support,” the release said.
- Southern Oregon Education Service District, which will use their funds to establish a medical assisting program for underserved youth at the SOESD regional career center.
- Streets for Everyone Team of Ashland Climate Collaborative to expand its Pedal Power Youth Bike Program, which teaches bicycle skills and safety.
- Talent Maker City, which will “strengthen organizational agility to build partnerships for time-sensitive programs that meet community mental health and well-being needs,” the release said.
