The Siskiyou Violins and concert violinist Faina Podolnaya also featured Dec. 15 at the Havurah Synagogue
The Havurah Synagogue will hold a benefit concert for Ukrainian refugees now living in the Rogue Valley at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, at 185 N. Mountain Ave., according to a news release.
The Uniting for Ukraine Rogue Valley’s show will feature renowned pianist Alexander Tutunov, the Siskiyou Violins, and concert violinist Faina Podolnaya.
The concert will be limited to 100 attendees. Tickets cost $75 per person, with all proceeds benefiting “Ukrainian refugees who have been brought to safety here in the Rogue Valley,” the release said.
Featured pianist Alexander Tutunov lives in Ashland and is a professor of piano and artist in residence at Southern Oregon University. He is “widely recognized as one of the most outstanding virtuosos of the former Soviet Union,” the release said.
Tutunov is a past winner of the Belarusian National Piano Competition and the Russian National Piano Competition. He is also an artist in residence at the University of Alaska Southeast and was recently named director of the Chinese-American International Piano Institute in Chengdu, China.
The Siskiyou Violins is a group of students from southern Oregon and northern California, led by Faina Podolnaya.
Attendees will be able to meet some of the Ukrainian families who have been brought to the area. Wine and dessert will be served.
