Devar Dean Cluff, 87, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2025.
A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Devar is remembered for his kindness and his devotion to doing good. As a disciple of Jesus Christ, he loved and helped others generously.
Born on Aug. 22, 1937, in San Diego, California, Devar grew up as the second child of Herald and Dora Cluff, with three sisters and three brothers: BeaIna, Ralph, Mike, Virginia, Carol, and Quint. His childhood was spent mainly in Logandale, Nevada, and Ashland, Oregon.
As a young man, Devar served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Hawaii. Later in life, he and his wife, Rebecca, served missions in Tonga, the Idaho Falls Cannery, and Nauvoo, Illinois. He enjoyed serving at home, in the Church, and the community.
On June 12, 1962, Devar married Rebecca Marion in the St. George Temple. They shared a long and happy marriage that yielded six children, 32 grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren so far. After graduating from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science degree, he worked for General Electric before becoming a self-employed finish carpenter and general contractor.
Devar is survived by his wife, Rebecca, and children, Denae Cluff Horan (Scott), Dean Kaye Cluff (Heidi), Marian Cluff Hansen (Barry), Larry Allen Cluff, Benjamin Jared Cluff (Heidi), and Jenny Cluff Meyer (David). He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ralph Cluff.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2025, at the Ucon Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, at 2967 E. 105th N, Idaho Falls, Idaho 83401. The family will visit with friends from 9 to 9:45 a.m. before the service. Burial will be in the Ucon Cemetery.
