Food donations accepted at Ashland Community Food Bank during open hours, Paddington Station during its open house

Ashland residents in need will have a few places to look for the festive food and companionship that defines the Thanksgiving holiday. Those who want to offer their help can volunteer or donate in a few places.
Ashland Community Food Bank: The food bank will collect donations of Thanksgiving fixings, said Executive Director Amey Broeker. The nonprofit asks that donations — particularly turkeys — be given during operating hours lest they be left on the side of the building to spoil or be taken. The food bank at 560 Clover Lane is open from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. every third Saturday

Paddington Station food drive: The Ashland store will accept non-perishable food items to help those in need during its annual open house Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 22 to 24, at its main store, 125 E. Main St., Ashland. All those who donate will be given a free Christmas ornament, according to an email from Shelly Hensarling, human resources coordinator and executive assistant for Paddington Station. All donated food goes to the Ashland Community Food Bank.
Annual community Thanksgiving dinner: The Ashland Community Peace Meal and Southern Oregon Jobs with Justice will work together to provide a Thanksgiving day celebration from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Ashland, 1616 Clark Ave., according to a flier for the event obtained by Ashland.news.

Firefighters’ Union Thanksgiving pie for seniors & their families: The Ashland Firefighters Union and Ashland Senior Services Division Senior Center will work together to host the annual event from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, at the Ashland Senior Center, 1699 Homes Ave., Ashland, according to an event notice obtained from Ashland Parks & Recreation.
Union members will donate and serve pie and seasonal beverages. While the event is free, registration is required; call 541-488-5342.
Rogue Food Unites Free Farmers Market: A free market of largely organic produce, eggs and meat held at locations throughout the valley. For Ashland and Talent residents, the market will move to the Oregon Shakespeare Production building, 408 Talent Ave., on Tuesday, Nov. 26, where the market will be held from 4 to 6 p.m.
The market will normally be held at the OSF building Thursdays 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., but the week of Thanksgiving the Talent market will be open only Tuesday (Rogue Food Unites location in Eagle Point will be open Wednesday of Thanksgiving week).
