Suspect believed to have been in Ashland area over the summer

Rogue Valley Times staff report

A fugitive with ties to Southern Oregon is on the run after eluding capture Tuesday in Idaho, authorities said.

Christian Bert Fischer, 42, is wanted in Florida for traveling to meet a minor after use of a computer to lure a child, according to a news release from the U.S. Marshals Service issued Friday.

Fischer is a white male, 5-foot-10, 200 pounds and has blonde hair and blue-colored eyes. He is also known to dress like a woman, the release said.

“Before heading to Idaho, Fischer was in the Portland area. This June and July, he was in Ashland, Lake of the Woods and Wolf Creek,” according to the release.

U.S. Marshals Service task forces throughout the country have joined the search, including the local Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force, authorities said.

The Hernando County Crime Stoppers in Florida is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information directly leading to the arrest of Fischer. Crime Stoppers must be contacted first in order to be eligible for the reward. For additional information and instructions for the reward, click here to go to the Crime Stoppers link.

Anyone with any information on Fischer’s whereabouts, can contact the local U.S. Marshals Service office at 541-776-4277, the U.S. Marshals Service Communication Center at 800-336-0102, or send tips to usmarshals.gov/tips.
