Electronic devices seized after report of illegal uploads

Rogue Valley Times staff report

Law enforcement executed a search warrant in Talent early Tuesday morning after getting a tip that someone had uploaded child pornography from an apartment in the 500 block of Talent Avenue.

Acting on information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the Southern Oregon Child Exploitation Team launched an investigation and obtained subpoenas before serving the search warrant, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said in a release.

The Southern Oregon High Tech Crimes Task Force will forensically examine digital devices confiscated during the warrant, which was served with the help of Talent Police Department and the county District Attorney’s Office, the release said.

“Detectives are interviewing possible witnesses and involved parties, and investigations are ongoing,” the release said.

Additional information was unavailable, the release said.

The sheriff’s office and Medford Police Department also assisted SOCET, a joint interagency task force founded to fight child exploitation, the release said.
