In his June 7 “Relocations” column, Herb Rothschild published an account from my daughter’s correspondent, “a man in Gaza.”

Here is a June 19 report from that Palestinian man:

“I was in east Rafah near our shelter … in my rescue vehicle … clearly marked … with one … assistant.

“We were (going) to rescue three families…. He was driving, I was on the radio coordinating our other two teams’ rescue operations in central and west Rafah when the shooting started. The first three bullets hit the front of our vehicle and blew up the engine.

“Then I noticed the drone making a semicircle maneuver so that it could target us inside the vehicle … and I knew we had a couple of seconds before it started firing. So I pushed my assistant out of the vehicle through the door next to him and I slid through the same door. The drone then fired heavily and the bullets hit the roof and the inside of the vehicle through the front windshield in just a fraction of a second after we had already abandoned the vehicle.

“Luckily, the vehicle stopped next to a wall of a destroyed house…. The drone roamed above our heads for a few minutes and then flew away.”

The reporter’s niece, 14-year-old Lujayn, in Deir al-Balah camp, reacted by telling her uncle to request I contact officials demanding they stop “Israeli occupying forces” from trying to kill her favorite uncle. Nine months of war! Your Sen. Ron Wyden and Rep. Cliff Bentz, by their silence, remain complicit in the killing and starvation. Sen. Jeff Merkley has called for a ceasefire and voted to stop U.S. arms shipments where weapons have been used to attack civilians indiscriminately.
