Rock used to break window, but nothing appeared to have been stolen

Unknown individuals broke into Willow Wind school and took nothing, but did leave behind cocoa mix powder and muddy footprints. 

The break-in was discovered Tuesday morning, Jan. 16, at Willow Wind Community Learning Center at 1497 East Main St. Ashland police officers were dispatched to the scene at 10:29 and officers were on scene at 10:32 a.m., said Ashland Police Chief Tighe O’Meara. 

“Looks like it was juveniles. Nothing taken, no video, no alarm, no suspects,” he said. 

An obsidian rock was used to break a window at the school. A muddy footprint was found on a table and cocoa mix powder had been dumped on the floor in the barn building, he said. 

The school, a public K–12 alternative program sponsored by the Ashland School District, is in a remote part of Ashland. Willow Wind school has not experienced this activity before, he said.
