It’s been a Lithia Park centerpiece for more than 100 years
Walk Ashland History Tours’ Peter Finkle will lead a talk about Lithia Park’s historic Butler-Perozzi Fountain at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, at the Ashland library, 410 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland, the Ashland Parks Foundation announced.
The event is free and open to the public.
“We so easily take something like the fountain in Lithia Park for granted,” a news release said. “The fountain’s tale touches European royalty, 500-year-old vineyards, and an early 1900s Ashland creamery.”
Finkle will also outline the piece’s restoration plan and provide a campaign update from the Restoration Steering Committee.
The Ashland Parks Foundation kicked off a fundraising campaign on July 4 to restore the fountain and site and create a maintenance fund so future repairs can be done annually. Five months into the campaign, more than 70% of the goal has been reached.
