Ashland’s historic Peerless Hotel reopens

Ashland’s oldest hotel is once again open for business. Ashland has two historic hotel buildings, the Peerless Hotel, built in 1900, and Ashland Springs Hotel, built in 1925. The Peerless, at 243 Fourth street in the Railroad District, was closed for three months for renovations by its newest owner, Shawn Donnille.

Ashland man who went missing reunited with family members

After hundreds of hours spent by Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Search & Rescue to find an Ashland man who went missing on the Bear Creek Greenway path, the man has been found. Harold “Harry” Marcrum, 26, returned home Thursday to his family members, according to Sgt. Shawn Richards, with Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

John Muir replaced by TRAILS in Outdoor School name

After nearly a two-year process, an Ashland school named for John Muir has changed its name to TRAILS Outdoor School. The new name, approved unanimously by Ashland School Board on June 13, stands for Trust, Respect, Awareness, Interdependency, Leadership, and Stewardship.

Gilman International Scholarship in the spring 2022 scholarship round to support their upcoming study abroad programs.
