SUMMARY:Betty LaDuke opens her art vault for a very special First Friday event!
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to a special event: “Celebrating Life 1984-2024″ with artist Betty LaDuke. Betty will be opening her art vault\, featuring a collection of original\, never-before-seen etchings titled “Trees of Life and Landscape A Feminine Mythical View\,” from 1984 along with her “Turtle Wisdom\,” a series of wood-carved panels from 2021-2024. \nDoors open at 5pm\, and an opening ceremony will commence at 5:15pm. The ceremony will showcase a collaboration between artist Betty LaDuke\, Amy Cordalis—an Indigenous Yurok lawyer who played a key role in the removal of the Klamath Dams through the nonprofit Ridges to Riffles Indigenous Conservation Group—and our Conservation Director\, George Sexton from KS Wild. \nBetty draws inspiration from both Amy and George\, incorporating their stories into her “Turtle Wisdom Series.” \n“Turtle Defends Old-Growth Trees” is inspired by George Sexton\, and “Turtle Dam Free” is inspired by Amy Cordalis. We invite you to join us for an evening dedicated to celebrating art and life\, in defense of our environment\, with Betty LaDuke\, George Sexton and Amy Cordalis. \nYou will also have the special opportunity to purchase one of these sought-after original etchings while supporting KS Wild’s mission to protect biodiversity. The original unframed etchings are at affordable prices\, and 70% of the proceeds go to KS Wild! \nBetty LaDuke’s etchings are in permanent collections at many locations across the world\, including Schneider Art Museum\, Jordan Schnitzer Art Museum\, University of Oregon\, Art About Agriculture – Oregon State University\, Hallie Ford Museum in Salem Oregon\, Portland Art Museum\, Waterloo Center for the Arts in Iowa\, Brauer Museum\, and St. Ottilien Monastery in Germany. \nThis evening is dedicated to honoring the remarkable efforts made to protect the forests and waters of our home\, just as Betty’s artwork connects us to the trees and rivers we cherish in our lives. \nJoin us on Friday\, December 6th from 5pm to 7pm where Betty will be sharing her marrying of art and advocacy with our community. She will be donating 70% of all art proceeds to KS Wild and Rogue Riverkeeper! \nAs always\, local wine and light refreshments will be provided. We hope you will join us for this very special art show presented by Betty LaDuke on Friday\, December 6th from 5-7pm at our downtown Ashland office at 562 A Street.

SUMMARY:First Friday: Judy Weiner Art Show + Silent Auction
DESCRIPTION:You’re invited to join KS Wild and Rogue Riverkeeper for a special First Friday art show and silent auction from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday\, Sept. 1\, at our office\, 562 “A” St.\, Ashland. \nThe show will feature the mystical works of the late Judy Weiner. Wine and refreshments will be provided. \nJudy’s paintings have been featured in numerous art shows\, and she has won awards for her oil paintings. Her series\, presented during our September First Friday\, entitled Ordinary Magic\, features lessons from our natural world. \nThese paintings are communications about Judy’s strong concern that we all need to look\, listen\, learn from\, and love 1) our earth’s exquisite critters who wish only to live in their natural habitat and who can teach us unconditional love\, and 2) the amazing array of Earth’s plants\, which feed\, clothe\, heal\, and afford us unending beauty. We must protect all of them from the now-growing threat of planetary destruction. They are the non-random\, elegantly designed treasures of our natural environment\, without which our human race cannot long survive. \nJudy’s pieces will be available for auction\, and 100% of the sales proceeds will be generously donated to KS Wild and Rogue Riverkeeper.
