SUMMARY:July Exhibition at ART ON FIRST: Inner Landscape Paintings – Martina Goldberg
DESCRIPTION:July Exhibition at ART ON FIRST: Inner Landscape Paintings – Martina Goldberg \nMonday\, June 30 – Monday\, July 28\, 11:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.\nOpening Reception: Friday\, July 4\, 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. \nCurrently featured at ART on FIRST are inner landscape paintings by Martina Goldberg. Working mainly with acrylics\, Martina captures visual aspects of landscapes in Mexico combined with a Northern European spirit\, taking her expression beyond the limits of her viewers’ eyes. Using just a few visual elements and a limited palette\, Martina’s paintings are often dramatically contrasted but also subtly blended\, which is her way of interpreting the essence and mood of her compositions\, always aiming to evoke in her viewers an inner landscape. She wants her viewers to feel the landscapes\, not just see them. \nFor more information\, please visit www.artandfirstashland.com.

SUMMARY:Thursday Evening Calm Abiding Meditaion
DESCRIPTION:This meditation is common to many traditions of Buddhism. In this practice\, we rest our attention on a simple meditative support\, such as the breath. Instead of following thoughts and emotions as we usually do\, we release them and maintain our connection to the support. \n“From this practice\, we can experience a stable and calm mind. We learn to maintain and return to a sense of stillness\, no matter what our outer circumstances. The mind is relaxed\, alert and aware. The results of this practice are serenity\, freedom in the face of circumstances\, and ultimately Buddhahood.” \nFrom Meditation for Beginners\, by Bokar Rinpoche. \nTo attend Calm Abiding Meditation via Zoom\, email the office at OFFICE@KSCASHLAND.ORG to join the mailing list. \n

SUMMARY:End Game Art Exhibition by Art Van Kraft
DESCRIPTION:Join the Phoenix Art & Culture Council in celebrating the colorful narratives of local artist Art Van Kraft at Langford Art Gallery for the End Game Exhibition\, opening on July 5\, 2025. \nA Second Phriday engagement to follow on July 11th at 7pm\, with an artist talk to get to know Van Kraft and learn more about the content and process of his work. A third engagement\, Cultural Leadership Panel\, on July 26th at 6pm\, is hosted by the Phoenix Chamber of Commerce and Phoenix Art and Culture Council as the 6th in a series of 10 events in the Phoenix Cultural Exchange program. \nThis much-anticipated show unveils Kraft’s latest body of work—a vivid exploration of contemporary American culture rendered through a lens of abstract realism\, enigmatic landscapes\, and vibrant\, emotionally charged color. \nAn internationally recognized mid-career contemporary painter with a global exhibition record\, Art Van Kraft invites visitors to immerse themselves in a world where visual narrative and symbolic terrain converge. His paintings\, layered with complexity and intention\, challenge viewers to engage with what lies beneath the surface—both in the canvas and in the culture it reflects. \n“This exhibition will take the viewer on a journey through intricate layers of landscapes and narratives\,” says the gallery’s curator\, Beca Blake. “Kraft’s work manages to be both deeply personal and collective\, addressing the cultural expressions and individual introspection of our times.” \nKraft holds degrees in visual art from both the University of Southern California and the Paris American Academy. Now based in Ashland\, Oregon\, he continues to champion rural-urban contemporary art through his visual expressions. \n“For me and others like me\, we paint alone\, without fanfare… a solitary experience that has its hits and misses. But when it hits\, and you know it’s pure and part of yourself\, that’s the end game.” ~ Art Van Kraft \nDon’t miss this intimate and thought-provoking exhibition exploring themes of American culture through visual storytelling.

SUMMARY:Walk through Jacksonville History
DESCRIPTION:Jacksonville’s “Walk through History” tours are back! \nAt 10 a.m. every Saturday from May 24th through August 30th\, Historic Jacksonville\, Inc. will be offering one-hour guided walks through Jacksonville’s National Historic Landmark District\, the first on the West Coast! Participants will take a stroll through history\, visiting government and commercial buildings\, fraternal lodges\, and homes that capture the stories of the people who transformed a gold rush town into Southern Oregon’s 19th Century social\, governmental\, and commercial hub. They’ll learn how gambling money built a church; how the Civil War ended a successful mercantile partnership; how a saloon housed the county’s first museum; how fire reshaped the town; and how a railroad both destroyed the town and preserved it. \nWalking tours leave from Jacksonville’s New City Hall (the historic “Courthouse Square”) at 206 North 5th Street between West C and D streets and cover about one mile with multiple stops. Tours are FREE but donations are encouraged! All monies go towards the preservation and maintenance of Jacksonville’s historic buildings. \nFor individuals who prefer not to “stretch their legs\,” Historic Jacksonville’s website (https://www.historicjacksonville.org) offers numerous ways to explore Jacksonville virtually. These include multiple blogs about the town and its settlers along with three video tours that introduce viewers to Jacksonville’s Historic Landmark District\, its Historic Homes\, and its Pioneer Cemetery. \nHistoric Jacksonville\, Inc. invites you to forget the “names\, dates\, places\, and battles” version of history you may have been taught in school. HJI’s live and virtual tours are about “real history”—people and their stories. They are about life! \nAdditional information on “Walk through History” and other Historic Jacksonville\, Inc. tours is available at 541-245-3650; info@historicjacksonville.org; and www.historicjacksonville.org.
