SUMMARY:Ashland Folk Collective in the Park presents: Glitterfox with Fox and Bones!
DESCRIPTION:Doors / Food Trucks and Beer Garden at 4:30 \nMusic from 6:00 – 9:00 \n_______ \nFree concerts\, good music\, family friendly\, community oriented.\nBeer Garden and Food Trucks. Come enjoy! \n_______ \nGlitterfox \nGlitterfox doesn’t chase the algorithm—they follow instinct\, community\, and a kind of magia(Basque for magic). Formed by longtime creative partners Solange Igoa and Andrea Walker\, the Portland-based band has built their career the analog way: a van\, a map\, and unforgettable shows stitched across towns like constellations. Their rise has been defined by raw connection and fearless self-expression\, with music that fuses garage rock grit\, new wave shimmer\, southern Americana soul\, and a dancefloor pulse—all tangled with heart and heat until what emerges is unmistakably\, inimitably Glitterfox. \nFox and Bones \nScott Gilmore and Sarah Vitort are Fox and Bones—energetic offbeat folksters with a retro-tinged\, soul-stirring\, modern vintage bent. Their hardworking artistic output has earned them first place at the 2023 Tucson Folk Festival songwriting contest and second place in the International Acoustic Music Awards\, amongst other accolades. In between their rigorous tour schedule\, the duo founded Portland’s Folk Festival; an annual celebration of folk and Americana music at the iconic Crystal Ballroom in their hometown of Portland\, Oregon.

SUMMARY:Thursday Evening Calm Abiding Meditaion
DESCRIPTION:This meditation is common to many traditions of Buddhism. In this practice\, we rest our attention on a simple meditative support\, such as the breath. Instead of following thoughts and emotions as we usually do\, we release them and maintain our connection to the support. \n“From this practice\, we can experience a stable and calm mind. We learn to maintain and return to a sense of stillness\, no matter what our outer circumstances. The mind is relaxed\, alert and aware. The results of this practice are serenity\, freedom in the face of circumstances\, and ultimately Buddhahood.” \nFrom Meditation for Beginners\, by Bokar Rinpoche. \nTo attend Calm Abiding Meditation via Zoom\, email the office at OFFICE@KSCASHLAND.ORG to join the mailing list. \n

SUMMARY:Sip for a Cause: A Special Evening Benefiting the Ashland Food Project
DESCRIPTION:The Ashland Food Project is excited to announce a community-centered evening of connection\, conversation\, and giving—hosted by the delightful new pop-up wine bar\, Panache and Gusto. \nJoin us on Thursday\, June 26th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Le Petit Café Crêperie (formerly Water Street Café) for a relaxed and informal fundraiser in support of the AFP. \nDuring our special evening\, 10% of all proceeds from the bar (5:00–10:00 PM) will be generously donated to the Ashland Food Project\, directly supporting our efforts to fight hunger and strengthen food security in our region. \nThis isn’t your typical fundraiser—there are no speeches or presentations\, no tables or banners. Instead\, this is about neighbors talking to neighbors over a glass of wine. AFP representatives will be there from 6:00–8:00 PM\, sharing what we do and how easy it is to get involved. Whether you’re a longtime supporter or just curious\, we’d love to chat. \nWe’ll have some informational cards and door hangers on hand if you want to take something with you—or pass it along to a friend.

SUMMARY:Nicholas Belardes talks about his new horror novel Ten Sleep
DESCRIPTION:Jordan Peele’s Nope meets True Grit in Nicholas Belardes’s Ten Sleep\, a supernatural modern-day western about a trio of young people on a 10-day cattle drive that leads them through a canyon haunted by ancient mysteries and savage beasts who existed long before humankind. \nA young Mexican American woman detects uncanny creatures stalking her on a cattle drive toward a canyon soaked in blood in an unforgettable novel\, brilliantly infusing the modern Western with spine-chilling horror . . . \nWhen Greta Molina’s old friend Tiller offered her the job\, a ten-day cattle drive across the Wyoming prairie from the ranching town of Ten Sleep\, it sounded like a well-paid break. Three hundred and twenty cows and calves\, two guys her age she’s known since college\, and a few long days on an ATV will give her time to sort out the mess in her head. The canyon along the trail has a history\, sure\, but nature has a tendency toward violence. Greta can accept that\, even if it makes her insides squirm. \nWhat Greta doesn’t know is the legacy of murder and rot that runs deep into the rocks of this land. As each night passes on the prairie\, the trio faces mounting supernatural dangers: a ghost train of the damned\, wild animals walking alongside dead ones–and evidence of a gigantic creature in the skies\, one that’s supposedly been extinct for eons. And Tiller may be hiding even darker secrets the further they go. Safety is only ten sleeps away\, but Greta soon realizes that may be too long for all of them to survive. \nNicholas Belardes’s Ten Sleep is a fresh portrayal of the American West for fans of Catriona Ward\, Victor LaValle and Jordan Peele’s Nope\, by a rising star in horror.

SUMMARY:Walk through Jacksonville History
DESCRIPTION:Jacksonville’s “Walk through History” tours are back! \nAt 10 a.m. every Saturday from May 24th through August 30th\, Historic Jacksonville\, Inc. will be offering one-hour guided walks through Jacksonville’s National Historic Landmark District\, the first on the West Coast! Participants will take a stroll through history\, visiting government and commercial buildings\, fraternal lodges\, and homes that capture the stories of the people who transformed a gold rush town into Southern Oregon’s 19th Century social\, governmental\, and commercial hub. They’ll learn how gambling money built a church; how the Civil War ended a successful mercantile partnership; how a saloon housed the county’s first museum; how fire reshaped the town; and how a railroad both destroyed the town and preserved it. \nWalking tours leave from Jacksonville’s New City Hall (the historic “Courthouse Square”) at 206 North 5th Street between West C and D streets and cover about one mile with multiple stops. Tours are FREE but donations are encouraged! All monies go towards the preservation and maintenance of Jacksonville’s historic buildings. \nFor individuals who prefer not to “stretch their legs\,” Historic Jacksonville’s website (https://www.historicjacksonville.org) offers numerous ways to explore Jacksonville virtually. These include multiple blogs about the town and its settlers along with three video tours that introduce viewers to Jacksonville’s Historic Landmark District\, its Historic Homes\, and its Pioneer Cemetery. \nHistoric Jacksonville\, Inc. invites you to forget the “names\, dates\, places\, and battles” version of history you may have been taught in school. HJI’s live and virtual tours are about “real history”—people and their stories. They are about life! \nAdditional information on “Walk through History” and other Historic Jacksonville\, Inc. tours is available at 541-245-3650; info@historicjacksonville.org; and www.historicjacksonville.org.

SUMMARY:Monthly Foster Dog Adoption Event
DESCRIPTION:Join the FOTAS Foster Team the last Saturday of every month for a Fantastic Foster Dog extravaganza! \nThanks to Rogue Valley Pet in Central Point\, we are able to showcase our foster dogs the last Saturday of month\, 10am-2pm. \nIt’s an open house where you can meet and greet with some very special dogs….all lovingly cared for by foster parents. \nVisiting with the dogs and the foster team is a fantastic way find out all about the dogs before adoption. These dogs have received lots of love and attention and are now ready for their forever home. Dogs from other non-profit rescue groups will also be invited so you’ll be able to meet a great selection of super dogs.
