SUMMARY:5G Safety Overview / Public Efforts for a 5G Ordinance in Ashland
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for this inspiring event\, held 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday\, Dec. 1 at  Jackson Wellsprings Community Room\, 2253 Highway 99\, Ashland. \nAshland\, Oregon is a beautiful mountain community where health and clean living are valued and promoted. \nA group of concerned community members\, in partnership with Oregon for Safer Technology\, are committed to protecting our town’s future by keeping small cell antennas (5G) in check with a legally strong local zoning ordinance. \nPlease come to our gathering to learn more about 5G wireless communications facilities and the challenges facing the Ashland City Council as they try to craft a strong wireless ordinance that will preserve their authority under the Telecommunications Act of 1996 to control the placement of 5G towers in the city. \nOne of our goals is to hire respected and knowledgeable attorney Andrew Campanelli to write a robust wireless communications facility ordinance for Ashland. This ordinance will become a model for all municipalities in the state of Oregon. \nWe feel strongly about vesting city leaders with the authority they need to draft legally robust zoning provisions to control the placement of small cell towers and other wireless facilities within their jurisdiction to the greatest extent possible. \nWe envision a future where children\, families\, and neighbors can enjoy the serenity this lovely mountain town offers without unnecessary radio frequency radiation. \nVisit Oregon for Safer Technology to learn more: https://www.or4safertech.org/ \nYou can make a donation to help us hire Andrew Campanelli here: https://donorbox.org/hire-andrew-campanelli-to-draft-a-strong-wireless-ordinance-for-the-city-of-ashland-oregon

SUMMARY:Identifying Conifers & Shrubs in the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument
DESCRIPTION:We will meet at 9 a.m. at the Rite Aid in Ashland and make our way into the Monument from there. Carpooling is optional. \nOn this hike\, we’ll talk about and discover as many native conifers and shrubs as we can find. Nolan’s most keen interests lie in Plant Biogeography\, where and why can you find certain plant species or plant communities. He also enjoys birdwatching\, wildlife tracking\, and bushwacking to the top of random little regional peaks. \nThe Friends of Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument’s mission is to support the protection\, restoration and conservation of the Monument through service\, advocacy and education. Our Hike and Learn programs are designed to introduce the public to different topics and locations within the Monument. Hike and Learns are co-created with local scientists\, historians\, artists\, students\, and more.

SUMMARY:The Four Directional Model of Energy Management with Heather Bakner
DESCRIPTION:The Four Directional Model of Energy Management was originally called The Four Directional Model of Maintaining Energetic Health; I also call it “The Energy of Being.” It was created as a response to my acupuncture practice. \nI wanted to give my clients a simple system that they could use to clear themselves energetically and uphold and maintain the work I was facilitating with them. Also\, I myself was in a deep healing process and was asking for a direct transmission of the information I needed in order to heal myself. \nThe Four Directional Model is what arose out of this inquiry. By asking the question and then listening and witnessing through the community I lived in\, conversations I had\, and experiences I was in\, I received the information that I asked for. \nThe Four Directional Model is a holistic\, or holonomic model—that is\, a model that in its small scope also encompasses the whole. I ask people to receive this model\, and to incorporate the parts that resonate with them into their lives and practices. I believe it has the ability to increase health\, harmony and happiness within and without\, both for the individual and in relationships. \nI will also talk about acupuncture and the meridians and how it can contribute to improving health in the mind\, body and spirit. \nHeather Bakner\, L.AC. RMT is a licensed acupuncturist and massage therapist\, with 20 years of experience working with clients to improve their health and wellbeing. She not only practices Traditional Chinese Medicine but also Esoteric Acupuncture\, which combines sacred geometry and metaphysical theory with the needling sequences. Her company\, Sacred Spaces Healing Arts\, is dedicated to improving the health and lives of her clients. She currently practices at Light Touch Chiropractic in Ashland. \nFREE ADMISSION – 1757 Ashland St.\, Ashland\, OR. SUMMARY:Brave Heart of Awakening – A Zoom Weekend Retreat by Lamas Yeshe & Zopa of Prajna Fire in Santa Fe\, New Mexico
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a weekend of Dharma talks and guided practice exploring the “Seven Point Cause-Effect Method\,” a time-honored\, organic process for nurturing bodhicitta\, the Brave Heart of Awakening. The Method is this: \n• Opening to kinship\n• Honoring kindness\n• Returning gratitude\n• Touching into affection\n• Kindling compassion\n• Exceptional resolve\n• Brave heart of awakening \nSupported by integrative practice\, the Buddha’s contemplative technology (comprised of the depth practice of listening\, contemplating\, and meditating)\, we will develop an accurate understanding of the method; discuss our doubts and aspirations with respect to its practice and efficacy; and engage in experiential analysis to plumb the depths of the Brave Heart of Awakening as it is\, here and now\, and yet to be. \nPractitioners will receive supplementary resources and will have ample opportunity to listen\, contemplate\, and meditate throughout our time together. This teaching is open to everyone. \nWeekend Schedule: Friday\, December 8 (5 – 6:30 p.m.)\nSaturday\, December 9 (10 a.m. – noon and 2 – 4 p.m.)\nSunday\, December 10 (8:30 – 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. – noon) \nKarma Yeshe Chödrön and Karma Zöpa Jigme are students of Kyabje Bokar Rinpoche\, and have been full-time practitioners of Tibetan Buddhism for over twenty years. Since 2005\, they have been teaching and translating Dharma texts and oral teachings from Tibetan to English for the Rigpe Dorje Institute for International Students at Pullahari Monastery in Nepal. In 2016\, they successfully completed the traditional Kagyu lineage three-year cloistered retreat at Vajra Vidya Retreat Center in Crestone\, Colorado\, under the auspices of Kyabje Thrangu Rinpoche. They are passionate about sharing traditional methods for transmitting experiential understanding of Buddhadharma with Western students through their international Dharma community\, Prajna Fire.

SUMMARY:Siskiyou Singers Holiday 2023 Concert: “Ancient Melodies”
DESCRIPTION:Join Siskiyou Singers for the holidays as we explore the origins of the music we’ve come to love during this special time of year\, along with contemporary interpretations of many other seasonal favorites. \nPerformances of “Ancient Melodies” will be at SOU’s Music Recital Hall in Ashland on Friday\, Dec. 8 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday\, Dec. 9 and 10\, at 3:00 p.m. General admission is $25 ($5 for students and Oregon Trail Card holders). Tickets are available from choir members\, at Music Coop or Paddington Station in Ashland\, online\, or at the door. \nThe first half of the program will begin with two Spanish villancicos (Christmas carols) from the 16th century. These sprightly pieces will contrast Rachmaninoff’s “Bogoroditse Devo\,” and “Videntes Stellam Magi” (“The Wise Men Saw the Star”) by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina\, a spectacular telling of the story of the wise men written for two antiphonal choirs. \nWe will also perform contemporary settings of ancient texts\, including “O Magnum Mysterium” (“O Great Mystery”) by Morten Lauridsen. Also featured will be a neo-Renaissance piece by well-known local composer William Ashworth and a traditional black spiritual\, “See Dat Babe\,” in a great concert arrangement\, by Stacey Gibbs. \nIn the second half of the concert we will perform holiday favorites set in exciting ways\, including “The Holly and the Ivy” in a heart-warming setting by Alice Parker\, and jazz arrangements of “Let It Snow\,” “I’ll Be Home for Christmas\,” and “Winter Wonderland.” The program will end with a profound setting of “Silent Night” by Ivo Antognini and\, as always for our choir\, “We Wish You a Merry Christmas\,” as arranged by John Rutter. \nRogue Valley musicologist Ed Wight will present a free pre-concert lecture about the music one hour before the Dec. 8 and 10 performances. \nDon’t miss this exceptional holiday celebration!
