SUMMARY:Book launch party for "Social Forestry: Tending the Land as People of Place"
DESCRIPTION:Join local author\, Hazel\, and the crew at Siskiyou Permaculture at the release party for the new book\, “Social Forestry: Tending the Land as People of Place\,” published by Synergetic Press. The event will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday\, May 13 at the KS Wild Center\, 562 “A” St.\, Ashland. \nBook sales\, signing\, and refreshments will start at 4 p.m.; Q&A salon will start at 5:30 p.m. \nThis amazing book is the culmination of a lifetime of experience and thoughtful exploration. To live in harmony with our surroundings\, we need to re-skill\, always remembering those who came before us and acting in ways that honor traditional wisdom of people and place. \nMore about the book\, Hazel\, and Siskiyou Permaculture at https://siskiyoupermaculture.org/social-forestry-book-page/

SUMMARY:A Field Guide to Humans: Enriching Relationships Through the Enneagram
DESCRIPTION:Be present. Be real. Be kind. Successful relationships of all kinds begin with seeing through the other person’s eyes. It’s a simple practice but not that easy\, especially with those close to us. \n“A Field Guide to Humans: Enriching Relationships through the Enneagram” is a playful\, pragmatic guide to understanding the people in your life and improving your relationships with them. Author and therapist Frank De Luca presents the Enneagram\, a model of the human psyche presented as nine interrelated personality types\, as a lens through which to see others—their strengths\, their foibles\, and what makes them tick. \nThe title\, “A Field Guide to Humans\,” is an invitation to regard people with the same wonder and openness that a wildlife biologist brings to his or her study of the natural world. It is possible to have the same objectivity\, curiosity\, and respect while looking at human beings. Seeing friends\, family\, coworkers\, and others in this way invites curiosity and compassion rather than criticism—a reminder that whoever you are interacting with\, they want the same basic things you do\, but they go about it differently.

SUMMARY:Building a Broader “We”: Fusing Race and Class | Public Lecture and Q&A with Professor Ian Haney Lopez
DESCRIPTION:The Office for Equity\, Diversity\, & Inclusion\, SOU Campus Theme\, and The Oregon Shakespeare Festival present: \nBuilding a Broader “We”: Fusing Race and Class\nPublic Lecture and Q&A with Ian Haney Lopez \nWe are now a multi-racial population. But can we become a multi-racial democracy\, one that is genuinely racially egalitarian? \nIn this workshop\, Ian Haney López challenges participants to surface and examine their understanding of racism. He reintroduces an older paradigm of racism\, one that fuses race and class and one embraced by some of the greatest freedom fighters of our past. Presenting evidence that this paradigm shift resonates deeply with most Americans\, Ian illuminates the immediate value in embracing a multi-racial society.
