SUMMARY:Thursday Evening Calm Abiding Meditaion
DESCRIPTION:This meditation is common to many traditions of Buddhism. In this practice\, we rest our attention on a simple meditative support\, such as the breath. Instead of following thoughts and emotions as we usually do\, we release them and maintain our connection to the support. \n“From this practice\, we can experience a stable and calm mind. We learn to maintain and return to a sense of stillness\, no matter what our outer circumstances. The mind is relaxed\, alert and aware. The results of this practice are serenity\, freedom in the face of circumstances\, and ultimately Buddhahood.” \nFrom Meditation for Beginners\, by Bokar Rinpoche. \nTo attend Calm Abiding Meditation via Zoom\, email the office at OFFICE@KSCASHLAND.ORG to join the mailing list. \n

SUMMARY:Walking the Way During Lent
DESCRIPTION:Trinity Ashland will offer the opportunity to reflect on Jesus’ final day in Jerusalem. \nThe spiritual practice known as Way of the Cross\, Stations of the Cross and the Via Dolorosa has it roots in the intentions of pilgrims to the Holy Land over many hundreds of years. The Episcopal Book of Occasional Services lays out two versions of the Way of the Cross. This year we will use the Scriptural Way of the Cross. Come\, be a pilgrim the first six of the seven Fridays in Lent. Join us at noon on Fridays beginning March 7 and concluding on April 11 in the Sanctuary. \nSee more at https://www.trinitychurchashland.org/ or https://www.facebook.com/TrinityAshland/.

It was important to his parents\, however\, to raise their boy as a well-rounded person\, so his early years were also spent with school\, table tennis\, and ballroom dancing before focusing on music. \nSince then\, Ilya Shmukler made solo appearances in Europe and North America\, and performed with such artists as Mikhail Pletnev\, Paavo Järvi\, Marin Alsop\, Nicholas McGegan\, Junichi Hirokami\, Anne-Marie McDermott\, Anton Nel and David Radzynski. Collaborations include the Tonhalle-Orchester Zurich\, Musikkollegium Winterthur\, the Mariinsky\, Fort Worth Symphony\, Sendai Philharmonic\, Kansas City Chamber\, Bayer-Symphoniker\, and New Music Orchestras. \nTo have become a finalist and the recipient of the award for the “Best Performance of a Mozart Concerto” at the 2022 Cliburn Competition is a milestone in his career\, as is his New York debut as a winner of the Carnegie Weill Recital Hall Debut Audition in 2022. An alumnus of the Moscow State Conservatoire under the guidance of Elena Kuznetsova and Sergey Kuznetsov\, Ilya continues his studies at Park University (USA) with Stanislav Ioudenitch.

SUMMARY:"The Two Truths\," a hybrid teaching by Lama Pema
DESCRIPTION:When we read the title of this day of teachings\, we might ask\, “How can there be two truths? Something is either true or it is false\, isn’t that the case?” \nTo help us determine the answer to that important question\, the Buddha gave us all a tough challenge: Examine our daily experience to see if we can determine what is genuinely true. \nThe Buddha taught according to the two truths\, ultimate and conventional. For us to function effectively and compassionately in the world\, an understanding of both truths is essential. Join Lama Pema for an exploration of these truths\, and how they support the development of an awakened heart. \nBase Tuition: $60 \nReduced Tuition (for financial need): $40 \nBenefactor Tuition: $80 \n(no one is turned away for lack of funds)

SUMMARY:Sunday Service: Fear of Vulnerability
DESCRIPTION:The fear of being truly seen—of showing up in our full\, imperfect humanity—can leave us feeling exposed and isolated. Vulnerability often stirs deep fears of rejection\, judgment\, or inadequacy\, yet it also holds the key to genuine connection and healing. This sermon explores the tension between fear and the sacred power of being known. How can we confront the fear of vulnerability to foster deeper relationships and stronger communities grounded in presence\, liberation\, and transformation?\n-Led by Eli Poore \n“A deep sense of love and belonging is an irreducible need of all people. Only by embracing vulnerability can we build the connections that make us whole.”\n— bell hooks \nMonthly Theme: Fear \nAttend in person or watch live or recorded on our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@roguevalleyunitarianuniver8871
