SUMMARY:Artificial Intelligence: The Growing Importance of AI Literacy & Safety by Ian Ingram
DESCRIPTION:In the relentless torrent of change that defines our era\, mastering artificial intelligence (AI) isn’t just advantageous\, it’s essential. This isn’t about keeping pace; it’s about charting the course. As artificial intelligence weaves itself into the fabric of our daily operations and strategic decisions\, the fluency in AI becomes more than a skill; it transforms into a lens through which we view potential\, solve problems\, and ignite innovation. \nBut here’s where it gets interesting: AI literacy isn’t merely about understanding the algorithms or the data. It’s about embracing a mindset shift. It’s seeing beyond the code to the possibilities—how AI can streamline our work\, enrich customer experiences\, and open doors we didn’t even know were there. \nAs the digital landscape morphs with dizzying speed\, AI literacy positions us not just as participants but as pioneers. It’s the difference between being swept away by the current and riding the wave to new heights of creativity and impact. \nIn this journey\, the aim is not just to adapt but to lead\, to envision a future where AI is not a tool in our hands but a collaborator at our side. This is the moment to lean into the learning curve\, to build a culture where curiosity meets capability\, and where the language of AI becomes our native tongue. \nIn the narrative of our time\, AI literacy is not a chapter—it’s the theme. Let’s write it boldly. \nIan Ingram is the Founder and CEO of Neuraven AI Consulting and Prompt Engineering Services. He is a passionate educator and advocate for the safe deployment of AI technologies.\nIan founded Neuraven to meet the rapidly increasing need for AI literacy and its strategic application in business. Ian believes we are at an unprecedented technological inflection point and that the future is ours to change. AI technology is still in its infancy\, but it’s evolving at a rate that entire industries cannot keep up with. It is imperative to start the conversation now. \nFREE ADMISSION – 1757 Ashland St.\, Ashland\, OR. One mile west of I-5 Exit 14

SUMMARY:FREE Organ Concert – Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the SOU Worth Harvey Organ
DESCRIPTION:Come celebrate the 50th Anniversary of SOU’s Worth Harvey pipe organ and hear Dr. Margaret R. Evans perform an all – organ concert “Pipes and Pedals” on Friday\, August 23 at 2pm. \nThe concert is free and open to the public with free parking in Lot #36 across from the Music Building. \nA free cake and punch reception will follow the concert to celebrate the milestone. \nFree livestream: https://youtube.com/live/JzjGOp6SKa4?feature=share \nABOUT THE PERFORMER \nDr. Margaret Evans is Professor of Music Emerita at Southern Oregon University where she continues as the Adjunct Instructor of Organ. Her degrees are from Chatham University\, the University of Michigan\, and the Eastman School of Music (the University of Rochester)\, where she also earned the Performer’s Certificate in organ. \nDr. Evans has played recitals and presented workshops throughout this country on a variety of organ and organ literature topics. She also had a nearly 50-year career as a church musician (organist/choir director) for a variety of churches. Currently she is Chair of the OLLI at SOU Communications and Community Outreach Committee\, Dean of the Southern Oregon Chapter of the American Guild of Organists\, and a trustee of the Southern Oregon University Foundation. \nABOUT THE ORGAN\nThe SOU Music Recital Hall pipe organ was installed in 1974 after a nationwide fundraising effort led by Medford resident\, Agnes Flanagan. Worth Harvey gave the largest donation\, thus the organ was named for him. The instrument was built by Balcom and Vaughan\, a Seattle builder\, and has 36 stops with nearly 2000 pipes over three manual and pedal divisions. \nIn 2000 solid state stop action was installed. Nearly all money spent on the organ has been privately raised. Dozens of organ students have used it as a practice and recital instrument. Nationally- and internationally-known artists have played it\, and it was used prominently in the 1997 Northwest Regional Convention of the American Guild of Organists. For detailed information about the instrument\, see https://pipeorgandatabase.org/organ/19105
