While this will be hard work\, you will get the opportunity to experience the Monument from a new\, beautiful perspective! Volunteers will work in groups of 3 – 4 people\, including a team leader. Team leaders will be responsible for recording data\, locating the survey site\, and carrying a first aid kit. If you are interested in being a team leader\, please answer yes to the question when registering. \nLunch\, a t-shirt\, and training will be provided. \nFor any questions or clarification\, please do not hesitate to reach out us at info@cascadesiskyou.org. \nThe Friends of Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument’s mission is to support the protection\, restoration and conservation of the Monument through service\, advocacy and education.

SUMMARY:Ranked Choice Voting Outreach Skills Training
DESCRIPTION:Ranked choice voting is on the ballot in Oregon this November\, and RepresentUs will be on the ground talking with voters all throughout 2024. If you’d like to join us in talking with others about ranked choice voting here in Southern Oregon\, this training is for you! \nCome learn about ranked choice and connect with other volunteers and our 2024 Oregon organizer while sharpening your outreach skills and hear about opportunities to talk with voters in the coming months. \nAbout ranked choice voting: \nRanked choice voting is a simple improvement to our elections that gives voters the option to rank candidates in order of preference: first choice\, second choice\, third choice\, and so on. If a candidate receives more than 50%\, they win – like any other election. If not\, the candidate with the fewest votes is defeated and ballots are instantly counted for a voter’s next choice until there’s a majority winner. \nRanked choice voting gives us more meaningful choices on our ballots and more power to vote for candidates we actually like\, and allows candidates to run without fear of splitting the vote. \nAbout RepresentUs: \nRepresentUs is a national non-partisan organization working to unite people across the political spectrum to pass laws to make sure that government addresses the needs of people\, not special interests. Learn more about us at represent.us.

SUMMARY:Sunday Service: Our Recognition of Our Interdependence
DESCRIPTION:Interdependence has been one of our key values for a long time. We know ourselves to be part of the web of life\, connected with all other beings. We assert this connection is scientifically verifiable and yet goes beyond just the material. \nHow are we connected? What does this interconnection mean for us? How does it reformulate the way we see the world? \n“The fundamental law of human beings is interdependence. A person is a person through other persons. ” – Desmond Tutu \nAttend in person or watch live or recorded on our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@roguevalleyunitarianuniver8871

His gentle presence\, humor\, and wisdom have inspired millions to realize their soul’s greatest potential. \nIn 1979\, The Dancing Wu Li Masters: An Overview of the New Physics plumbed the depths of quantum physics and relativity\, winning the American Book Award for Science. In 1989\, The Seat of the Soul led the way to seeing the alignment of the personality with the soul as the fulfillment of life and captured the imagination of millions\, becoming the #1 New York Times bestseller for 31 weeks and remaining on the New York Times bestseller list for 3 years. In 2000\, Gary wrote Soul Stories\, another New York Times Bestseller\, and then co-authored two more Bestsellers with his spiritual partner Linda Francis\, The Heart of the Soul: Emotional Awareness (2002) and The Mind of the Soul: Responsible Choice (2003). \nIn 2007\, he wrote Soul To Soul: Communications from the Heart\, and in 2010 his revolutionary book Spiritual Partnership: The Journey to Authentic Power revealed the profoundly new relationship archetype of partnership between equals for the purpose of spiritual growth. His latest book\, Universal Human (2021)\, guides us toward a human species beyond even the emerging multi-sensory human species. \nGary will be speaking on “How To Use Your New Consciousness”. Rev. Kathy Zavada\, spiritual leader at Unity Community of Ashland\, will be providing meditation and music. Special musical guest Daniel Sperry will be sharing music and poetry. Don’t miss this very special offering by Unity Community of Ashland\, located at the Havurah\, 185 N. SUMMARY:Barry Kraft reads from the short writings of Franz Kafka
DESCRIPTION:Barry Kraft reads from the short writings of Franz Kafka (1883 — 1924) on the 100th anniversary of his demise. \nA major figure of 20th literature\, Kafka has found his way into current dictionaries under the the adjective\, “Kafkaesque” — being variously defined as “having a nightmarishly complex\, bizarre\, or illogical quality”; “in his vision of man’s isolated existence in a dehumanized world”; “characterized by surreal distortion and usually by a sense of impending danger”. \nIf this were all there was to Franz Kafka\, I’d have little inclination of giving a public reading of his writings\, nor you (probably) of hearing them. However\, Kafka is a kaleidoscope\, whose every turn reveals a different configuration — sometimes bleak\, sometimes delightful. Enjoy the unexpected vistas!

SUMMARY:Eli Jaxon-Bear discusses his book An Outlaw Makes It Home
DESCRIPTION:“An Outlaw Makes It Home bares it all in this rapid-fire compilation of adventures…a serious quest for spiritual wisdom and enlightenment with a startling turn in his heartwarming discovery after an eighteen-year search. Jaxon-Bear does not spare himself or try to polish his flaws and mistakes\, and in that regard\, he is a warrior. I consumed this book in huge gulps and would do it again. I urge others to read it.” \n— Peter Coyote\, Emmy award winning actor and author of The Rainman’s Third Cave \n“…A coming-of-age story\, a modern journey of self-discovery\, but also a classic hero’s journey\, an odyssey\, and a return home…Eli takes us from a shattering moment in his Brooklyn childhood through radical and sometimes terrifying times in the sixties\, his escape to Peru and later travels in Japan\, Morocco\, and India … all leading to his waking up and discovering what home truly is. His honesty about fear and failure are moving\, but what really shines forth in these pages is a fierce love and commitment to the truth.\nI absolutely loved his story!” \n— Nancy Baker\, Zen Roshi and Professor of Philosophy Emerita at Sarah Lawrence College

SUMMARY:Psilocybin for Personal Transformation: Backed by Science\, Rooted in Results by Laurie Thompson & Denise Taylor
DESCRIPTION:Ashland Healing Center is a legal Psilocybin Service Center licensed by the State of Oregon. Owners Laurie Thompson and Denise Taylor are making history as a mother-daughter duo who opened one of the first legal centers in Ashland\, Oregon. \nRecent studies from top Universities and research institutions show that psilocybin can alleviate symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder\, trauma\, anxiety\, depression\, and addiction with just one dose. The results and studies dispel many misperceptions and stigmas associated with psilocybin. You will learn about: \n-Psilocybin clinical studies past and present\n-How taking psilocybin in a safe setting guided by a licensed facilitator is different from partying with friends\n-What to expect when you or someone you know comes for an experience \nLaurie and Denise have witnessed incredible results at Ashland Healing Center and will share examples of how psilocybin can help:\n-Transform depression to love (of life\, self\, others)\n-Relieve migraine headaches\n-Deepen spiritual experiences\n-Release trauma\n-Activate physical healings \nAshland Healing Center is a legal Psilocybin Service Center licensed by the State of Oregon. Owners Laurie Thompson and Denise Taylor are making history as a mother-daughter duo who opened one of the first legal centers in Ashland\, Oregon. \nLaurie Thompson: \nI am a facilitator because I am passionate about helping people change their lives. I believe healing\, transformation\, and better emotional and physical health are possible with one psilocybin experience. I am grateful to live in Oregon\, a state that allows legal use of plant medicine\, and sets regulations for its safe use. \nI raised two daughters as a single parent. My work history led me to The Boeing Company where I spent 38 years and became a technical lead in IT Cyber Security. I loved doing this\, as it was constantly new\, changing and offered opportunities for new thinking. I led teams to implement company-wide changes. I have always been an avid reader and learner. \nI retired in 2013 and began looking for service opportunities. I was a patient visitor for Hospice by the Bay in the San Francisco area. I started a mind-body eating coaching business. I have also been a CASA (court appointed advocate for abused and neglected children). \nFour years ago\, I became a meditator. I began believing in myself and changing my emotions. Coronary heart disease\, which I had most of my life\, is now healed and I am healthy\, vibrant\, and active at age 80. I have a deep desire during this critical and often-troubled time on earth\, when there are hopes for a better world\, a greater consciousness\, to be part of this change. \nDenise Taylor: \nFor as long as I can remember I have had a passion for caring for others. I have been a registered nurse for 26 years. I love interacting and connecting with people and helping them through difficult times\, and I am very good at it. \nOver the years I became discouraged with the healthcare establishment and my inability to help people. I learned about psilocybin and was amazed at the research and results – this led me to take my own journey. \nAfter my psilocybin experience\, I clearly knew that the mushrooms were calling me to share this with the world. I left my nursing career\, and in partnership with my mother\, we opened our own psilocybin administration center\, and I became a licensed facilitator. \nPresenters’ Website: AshlandHealingCenter.com \nFREE ADMISSION – 1757 Ashland St.\, Ashland\, OR. SUMMARY:AIFF ~ FREE Screening + Discussion “Divided We Fall”
DESCRIPTION:AIFF presents the powerful film on bridging divides\, “Divided We Fall: Unity Without Tragedy.” \nNew Voice Strategies proved on camera that\, despite divisions that are exploited and amplified on social media and cable news by pundits and politicians\, Americans are hungry for connection and unity. \nThey want the core of our democratic experiment –“We the People” to succeed. New Voice Strategies filmed strangers from opposite sides of our political divides – Gen Xers from Massachusetts and millennials from Chicago – gathered together for a weekend. They wrestled with what it means to be an American … our divides and our connections. \nAfter the 1-hour film\, experience a Discussion with Marla Estes\, of Bridging Builders\, an organization addressing the growing social & political polarization in our country.\nVenue: AIFF Film Center\, 389 E.
