SUMMARY:Walk through Jacksonville History
DESCRIPTION:Jacksonville’s “Walk through History” tours are back! \nAt 10 a.m. every Saturday from May 24th through August 30th\, Historic Jacksonville\, Inc. will be offering one-hour guided walks through Jacksonville’s National Historic Landmark District\, the first on the West Coast! Participants will take a stroll through history\, visiting government and commercial buildings\, fraternal lodges\, and homes that capture the stories of the people who transformed a gold rush town into Southern Oregon’s 19th Century social\, governmental\, and commercial hub. They’ll learn how gambling money built a church; how the Civil War ended a successful mercantile partnership; how a saloon housed the county’s first museum; how fire reshaped the town; and how a railroad both destroyed the town and preserved it. \nWalking tours leave from Jacksonville’s New City Hall (the historic “Courthouse Square”) at 206 North 5th Street between West C and D streets and cover about one mile with multiple stops. Tours are FREE but donations are encouraged! All monies go towards the preservation and maintenance of Jacksonville’s historic buildings. \nFor individuals who prefer not to “stretch their legs\,” Historic Jacksonville’s website (https://www.historicjacksonville.org) offers numerous ways to explore Jacksonville virtually. These include multiple blogs about the town and its settlers along with three video tours that introduce viewers to Jacksonville’s Historic Landmark District\, its Historic Homes\, and its Pioneer Cemetery. \nHistoric Jacksonville\, Inc. invites you to forget the “names\, dates\, places\, and battles” version of history you may have been taught in school. HJI’s live and virtual tours are about “real history”—people and their stories. They are about life! \nAdditional information on “Walk through History” and other Historic Jacksonville\, Inc. tours is available at 541-245-3650; info@historicjacksonville.org; and www.historicjacksonville.org.

SUMMARY:Beekman Bank Museum tours
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to “Step Behind the Counter” of the oldest financial institution in the Pacific Northwest—Jacksonville’s 1863 Beekman Bank Museum—when Historic Jacksonville\, Inc. opens the museum for summer tours. \nEstablished as a “gold dust” office in 1856\, it was the first “bank” north of San Francisco. \nScheduled 2025 “banking hours” are 11am to 3 pm\, Saturdays and Sundays\, from May 24 through August 31. The Beekman Bank Museum is located at 110 W. California Street (the corner of California and North 3rd streets) in Jacksonville. Guests can interact with costumed docents sharing stories of late 19th Century banking practices\, gold shipping\, and handshake deals; step behind the counter and peer in drawers containing old checks\, stage schedules\, and paperwork; and enter the vault that stored millions in gold! \nVisitors can spend as much or as little time as they like—although we suggest they allow at least 30 minutes. Tours are FREE\, but donations are encouraged since all monies go towards the preservation and maintenance of this historic legacy! \nThe original bank was established in 1856 as a “gold dust” office. (If we’re factual\, it was a safe.) Cornelius Beekman had come to Jacksonville in 1854 as an express rider between Yreka and Jacksonville carrying newspaper\, mail\, parcels\, and gold over the Siskiyous. When his employer’s firm failed\, he established Jacksonville’s Beekman’s Express and his gold dust office. In 1863 he became Jacksonville’s Wells Fargo agent and constructed the Beekman Bank. \nDuring Jacksonville’s heyday as the governmental\, commercial\, and social hub of Southern Oregon in the late 1800s\, the Beekman’s Bank saw over $40 million in gold cross its counters—equivalent to over $1 billion today! The current 1863 structure is the only commercial wooden building on California Streeet to survive Jacksonville’s many fires. It has been preserved intact as a museum since Cornelius Beekman\, the wealthiest and most prominent of Jacksonville’s pioneers\, locked the doors in 1915. \nAdditional information is available at 541-245-3650; info@historicjacksonville.org; and www.historicjacksonville.org/behind-the-counter/.

SUMMARY:Music Video Shoot + Indie Music Showcase (Blood Jacuzzi ft. Bendre the Giant & Just Clark)
DESCRIPTION:Want to be in local indie rock band Blood Jacuzzi’s music video? Sunday\, 8/24/25 at Local 31 Pub in Ashland Blood Jacuzzi is playing a show and getting some crowd footage. \nPortland neo-soul/power pop group\, Bendre the Giant and folk great\, Just Clark are sharing the bill. Get ready to dance! \n$10 at the door \n21+ \nBlood Jacuzzi \nMasters of the art of wearing their heart on their sleeve\, Blood Jacuzzi has a sound that’s as raw\, energetic\, and emotional as the Pacific Northwest itself.\nKnown for their theatrical skits that comedically crescendo into the dramatized murder of various band members (starring generous portions of fake blood)\, Blood Jacuzzi gives live performances that are simultaneously unpredictable and wholesome; expect lots of big grins\, and the sense that the audience is somehow involved in their hijinks. At their best\, Blood Jacuzzi gets by on a fervor and earnest commitment that’s so infectious it may just make you feel more alive. Billy King’s lyrics\, laced with wit and emotion\, explore themes of personal struggle and celebrating differences. \nBendreTheGiant \nFrom Portland\, Oregon\, BendreTheGiant is the Neo-Soul Power Pop group led by Ben Estrada. Estrada has been releasing music since 2020\, but his 2024 releases mark the first time he has brought in outside collaborators: BendreTheGiant is now a six-piece band that includes keyboardist Delos Erickson\, guitarist Avery Scanlon\, bassist Eli Hansen\, drummer Nate Hansen\, and saxophonist Ben Harris. \nIn 2024 BendreTheGiant released an EP\, “Get Well Soon\,” and pair of singles\, “Nobody Knows” and “Make It Stop.” Their forthcoming EP\, “Wading In The Deep End\,” will be released on Friday\, March 7\, and coincides with a tour of Oregon\, California\, and Washington. BendreTheGiant has been featured on OPB\, the Dan Cable Podcast\, and Eugene Weekly\, and was a 2024 winner of MusicOregon’s Echo Fund artist grant. New single “Do you Feel It” now streaming.

SUMMARY:Southern Oregon Wildfire Risk: The Climate Connection
DESCRIPTION:Fire and smoke have become an annual source of concern for Oregonians\, especially for those of us living in the Southwest. \nAs wildfire trends become increasingly obvious\, questions about their drivers become more urgent. Yet\, many factors affect wildfire behavior and impact: forest management\, disruptions to fire’s natural role\, patterns of development\, and\, importantly\, changes to the climate. What do we know about how wildfires are changing\, the causes\, and options for climate adaptation? \nDr. Chris Adlam\, Southwest Regional Fire Specialist with the Oregon State University Extension Service\, Southern Oregon Research and Extension Center\, will be the featured speaker at the August SOCAN monthly general meeting. Adlam will discuss how climate is influencing fire risk in the region\, what climate projections portend for our future\, and what steps we can take to minimize the risk. \nThe program will occur from 6:00 – 7:30 pm on Tuesday August 26th at the Medford Public Library\, 205\, S. Central Avenue\, Medford. There is no charge for attending SOCAN events: https://socan.eco/events/.

SUMMARY:RVML Tuesday Night Lecture Series : Release Outdated Subconscious Patterns for Intentional Self Reprogramming and Growth with Jenna Hill
DESCRIPTION:We all have subconscious patterns that are established earlier in our lives to guide or help us survive the environment of that time. \nThose methods now no longer fit your current situation\, and you find yourself continuing to repeat history with your thoughts and actions. Breathwork can stop this maddening cycle! Breathwork helps identify subconscious patterning\, which is outdated and created around core wounds. This could be around feelings of worthiness and not feeling “good enough.” Maybe you struggle with patterns of self-sabotage\, being a workaholic\, perfectionism\, or anxiety in general and don’t know how to reroute your method of operation? \nIf you feel stuck in repetitive patterns\, weighed down by anxiety\, perfectionism\, or self-doubt\, breathwork may be the key to lasting change. Join Jenna Hill—an experienced Nurse Practitioner turned certified breathwork facilitator—for powerful\, transformative sessions using the Elemental Rhythm technique. Breathwork gently guides you to uncover and release outdated subconscious beliefs stored in the body\, helping you reconnect with your inner wisdom. Through curated music\, meditation\, and breath\, you’ll create space to heal core wounds\, shift your perspective\, and move forward with clarity and confidence. Come experience the life-changing power of breath. Transformation begins here.
