SUMMARY:Beekman Bank Museum tours
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to “Step Behind the Counter” of the oldest financial institution in the Pacific Northwest—Jacksonville’s 1863 Beekman Bank Museum—when Historic Jacksonville\, Inc. opens the museum for summer tours. \nEstablished as a “gold dust” office in 1856\, it was the first “bank” north of San Francisco. \nScheduled 2025 “banking hours” are 11am to 3 pm\, Saturdays and Sundays\, from May 24 through August 31. The Beekman Bank Museum is located at 110 W. California Street (the corner of California and North 3rd streets) in Jacksonville. Guests can interact with costumed docents sharing stories of late 19th Century banking practices\, gold shipping\, and handshake deals; step behind the counter and peer in drawers containing old checks\, stage schedules\, and paperwork; and enter the vault that stored millions in gold! \nVisitors can spend as much or as little time as they like—although we suggest they allow at least 30 minutes. Tours are FREE\, but donations are encouraged since all monies go towards the preservation and maintenance of this historic legacy! \nThe original bank was established in 1856 as a “gold dust” office. (If we’re factual\, it was a safe.) Cornelius Beekman had come to Jacksonville in 1854 as an express rider between Yreka and Jacksonville carrying newspaper\, mail\, parcels\, and gold over the Siskiyous. When his employer’s firm failed\, he established Jacksonville’s Beekman’s Express and his gold dust office. In 1863 he became Jacksonville’s Wells Fargo agent and constructed the Beekman Bank. \nDuring Jacksonville’s heyday as the governmental\, commercial\, and social hub of Southern Oregon in the late 1800s\, the Beekman’s Bank saw over $40 million in gold cross its counters—equivalent to over $1 billion today! The current 1863 structure is the only commercial wooden building on California Streeet to survive Jacksonville’s many fires. DESCRIPTION:A Picnic for Pollinator Pals is a fantastic way to celebrate National Pollinator Week and support your local pollinator protectors – PPRV – at a fun and educational event designed for the entire family!  \nThis first annual “FUN”-Raiser for Pollinator Pals\, PPRV’s youth education program\, takes place Saturday\, June 21st from 4-7 p.m. at Arpeggio Vineyard and Sunflower Farm (3578 Pioneer Rd\, Medford). National Pollinator Week is June 17 – 21\, 2025 and this event will be a great way to round out the week and enjoy some family time. The benefit features an age-appropriate sparkling beverage and a catered farm-fresh meal from Chef Tom Griest and Farm Bus Bistro. Also on site for the afternoon will be live music\, games\, puppets with Jerry Allen\, a pollinator garden and farm tour\, microscopes\, interactive pollinator activities\, and more!  \nLimited tickets are available\, and tickets are on sale only until Friday\, June 6th. Adult tickets are $40 and $20 for children\, and include a farm-fresh dinner\, beverages\, and lots of activities & fun! Tickets can be purchased on PPRV’s website at www.pollinatorprojectroguevalley.org/pollinator-pals. \nAll proceeds from this fun-raiser support PPRV’s Pollinator Pals Program. The goal is to cultivate a sense of presence and connection with the natural world\, which can lead to stress reduction\, improved mood\, and increased well-being. \nHere’s a more detailed look at what to expect: \nIntroduction and Setting the Intention: The session begins with a brief explanation of Forest Therapy and its benefits\, along with an opportunity to set personal intentions for the experience. \nGuided Walk and Sensory Engagement: Participants are guided on a gentle slow\, mindful walk through the forest\, with invitations to notice the sights\, sounds\, smells\, textures\, and tastes of the surroundings. \nMeditation and Mindfulness Practices: There may be moments for guided meditation or mindful breathing exercises to help participants deepen their connection with nature and their own bodies. \nReflections and Sharing: Participants may be invited to share their observations and reflections with the group\, fostering a sense of community and connection. \nRelaxation and Stillness: The session may include moments of quiet contemplation\, allowing participants to rest\, relax\, and connect. \nConcluding Reflections: The session may end with a period of reflection on the experience and its impact\, providing an opportunity to integrate the learnings. \nDawn Cogliser\, MSN\, FNP-BC\, CARN-AP\, CHC is a Family Nurse Practitioner and founder of Healing Mama Wellness. Dawn is also a Certified Forest Therapy Guide through the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy\, a Certified EcoNIRA teacher\, and founder of EcoRECOVERY for people in recovery from addiction. She is certified in both wilderness first aid/CPR and wilderness mental health first aid and is a registered Guide in Oregon and Redwood National Park. Dawn is an outdoors enthusiast crediting nature immersion as part of her personal healing journey. She knows first-hand how nature connection improves both physical and mental health. Dawn enjoys guiding both community and private groups and takes pride in creating inclusive events for people with most disabilities. \nHer motto is “Nature is for every BODY!” \nDawn believes when we raise the health and wellness of just one person\, we raise the health and wellness of the community as a whole.

DESCRIPTION:You are invited to “Step Behind the Counter” of the oldest financial institution in the Pacific Northwest—Jacksonville’s 1863 Beekman Bank Museum—when Historic Jacksonville\, Inc. opens the museum for summer tours. \nEstablished as a “gold dust” office in 1856\, it was the first “bank” north of San Francisco. \nScheduled 2025 “banking hours” are 11am to 3 pm\, Saturdays and Sundays\, from May 24 through August 31. The Beekman Bank Museum is located at 110 W. California Street (the corner of California and North 3rd streets) in Jacksonville. Guests can interact with costumed docents sharing stories of late 19th Century banking practices\, gold shipping\, and handshake deals; step behind the counter and peer in drawers containing old checks\, stage schedules\, and paperwork; and enter the vault that stored millions in gold! \nVisitors can spend as much or as little time as they like—although we suggest they allow at least 30 minutes. Tours are FREE\, but donations are encouraged since all monies go towards the preservation and maintenance of this historic legacy! \nThe original bank was established in 1856 as a “gold dust” office. (If we’re factual\, it was a safe.) Cornelius Beekman had come to Jacksonville in 1854 as an express rider between Yreka and Jacksonville carrying newspaper\, mail\, parcels\, and gold over the Siskiyous. When his employer’s firm failed\, he established Jacksonville’s Beekman’s Express and his gold dust office. In 1863 he became Jacksonville’s Wells Fargo agent and constructed the Beekman Bank. \nDuring Jacksonville’s heyday as the governmental\, commercial\, and social hub of Southern Oregon in the late 1800s\, the Beekman’s Bank saw over $40 million in gold cross its counters—equivalent to over $1 billion today! The current 1863 structure is the only commercial wooden building on California Streeet to survive Jacksonville’s many fires.
