Each story is followed with recipes of the dishes prepared at these themed gatherings. \nDeborah currently teaches at Cosmic Muffin School Of Cookery\, her small but well equipped cooking school located in downtown Ashland\, Oregon. DESCRIPTION:The city of Ashland cooling center in its severe weather shelter at 2200 Ashland St. will be open from noon to 7 p.m.\nSpace is limited. This is a low-barrier\, no frills\, cooling center — a safe and clean space with access to cool water and restrooms. The center is staffed at all times by volunteers.\nDuring hot weather\, people should drink plenty of fluids\, stay in an air-conditioned room if possible\, avoid direct sunlight\, check on relatives and neighbors\, and monitor the latest forecasts and warnings at forecast.weather.gov.\nIn addition to the severe weather shelter\, the Ashland Public Library at 410 Siskiyou Blvd. is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursdays\, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays.\nCool off in a City Park\nAshland also offers 19 parks and over 600 acres of open space with shady spots and water activities:\n-Swim Reservoir in Lithia Park: Fed by Ashland Creek.\n-Wading Area in Lithia Park: Near the children’s playground.\n-Splash Pad at Garfield Park: Open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.\n-Daniel Meyer Memorial Pool in Hunter Park: Check hours at ashlandoregon.gov/Swim

DESCRIPTION:In November 2020\, Oregon voters overwhelmingly passed Ballot Measure 110\, which reclassified possession/penalties for specified drugs including heroin\, methamphetamine and others. \nThis year the measure was significantly amended by Oregon House Bill 4002\, which repealed the drug decriminalization portion in response to public backlash. \nRep. Pam Marsh\, Oregon House of Representatives\, District 5; and Kerri Hecox\, M.D.\, MPH\, Medical Director and founder of the Oasis Center of the Rogue Valley in Medford\, will discuss exactly what happened with Measure 110\, the changes brought about by HB 4002\, and new the deflection programs in place. Plus\, they will cover what 110 funded in the Rogue Valley and the ongoing gaps\, barriers and needs in our addiction system. \nPart of the “Big Ideas” series\, this program is presented by the American Association of University Women (AAUW) Ashland Branch and Jackson County Library Services.
