SUMMARY:Solving Crosswords: Tips and Tricks
DESCRIPTION:This presentation will cover choosing puzzles based on difficulty\, improving your puzzle vocabulary\, adapting your fill sequence\, interpreting the language of clues\, and appreciating themes. If you get really stuck\, online resources can provide a nudge. After you finish a puzzle\, online explanations of clues and themes can deepen your understanding. \nSteve Weyer has been a “cruciverbalist” (crossword aficionado) since the 1990s. He developed CrozzWord\, a Java-based crossword solving application\, in 2002. Since 2010\, he’s been solving puzzles on his iPad\, teaching crossword courses at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute\, and constructing crosswords for fun and local organizations. His first New York Times crossword is scheduled to debut in 2023.

SUMMARY:Wildflower ID - Sunday Hike
DESCRIPTION:Come and enjoy the wildflowers on a high elevation hike. The location will be determined based on where the wildflowers are blooming! We will have the opportunity to stop and identify wildflowers along the way with the help of Collette Streight\, Executive Director of Friends of the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument\, and Liz Landreth\, our resident “Flower Floozy!” \nLiz Landreth has been conducting wildflower walks for adults and kids off and on for more than 15 years. She began with Sonoma County Parks Department and\, since moving to Ashland\, with the Ashland Hiking Group\, Southern Oregon Land Conservancy and Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument. She is an amateur botanist with emphasis on intriguing stories about plants and our relationships with them. \nWe will meet at 9 a.m. at the Rite Aid in Ashland and make our way into the Monument from there. Bring a lunch or snack to enjoy at the top\, and plenty of water and sun protection for the more exposed sections. Hiking boots are recommended. This will be a moderate to easy hike. \nThe Friends of the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument is a nonprofit organization\, and our mission is to support the protection\, restoration\, and conservation of the monument through service\, advocacy and education. Our Hike and Learn program is designed to introduce the public to different topics and locations within the Monument. Hike and Learns are co-created with local scientists\, historians\, artists\, students\, and more.

SUMMARY:State Sen. Jeff Golden town hall
DESCRIPTION:State Sen. Jeff Golden will hold a town hall meeting at from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday\, July 18\, at the Ashland library\, 410 Siskiyou Blvd.\, according to a news release. \nThe event is open to anyone and will be held in the library’s Gresham Room. It will be Golden’s first face-to-face town hall event since the start of the year\, though he has held live online town halls on the third Thursday of each month during that time. \n“I’ve enjoyed the monthly online events we’ve been doing\, and hope they’ve been useful for people who participated\,” Golden said. “I appreciated seeing people appear on the screen to ask questions and make comments as legislation was unfolding\, but that’s not nearly the same as actually getting together — especially since there’s so much to say about the session that just ended. I’m looking forward to finding what District 3 citizens are thinking out — and actually hearing it in person for a change.”

SUMMARY:Why Am I Here? Why I AM Here!
DESCRIPTION:Tiana Romine has a story to tell. The intrigue and impact of this story is profound. It’s not a focus on the how or why\, or what is to come. It’s a focus on the here and now. This is a powerful and positive journey forward from the “eleventh hour” of near death that has sparked hope on a very real and rooted level for many people. \nAt the current age of 45\, this particular path is on year 26\, with the triumphant and breath-giving rise from the physical abyss occurring 9-years-ago. As an inspirational speaker\, she is here\, not just for you to listen to her\, but for you to listen to yourself. This is a very calm and grounded speech based not only on intuition\, but also finding balance among the integration of the various forms of modern-medical treatments\, alternative care\, and a common-sense approach. \nPresenting this talk with a channeled focus on Q and A for the listeners\, she intends to spread the message\, far and wide\, as living proof\, of just how all-powerful we are as our own true healers. The Q and A session goes wherever the participants choose to take it. With her extensive and diverse background of education\, military and corporate career\, parenthood\, sacred-world travels\, spiritual path\, and an overall ultimate life-experience\, she is able to speak directly\, with natural integrity and vulnerability\, across many topics. \nBelieving fully that we each have our own special healing path\, her soul intention and higher calling is to prompt within you or someone close to you into a further gentle\, yet accelerating awareness of the ability to heal oneself and live the days of this current life to the fullest\, presently alive\, one hour at a time. \nJoin her on this speaking tour as she lovingly disperses the spiritual buoyancy of her own inner light to the masses with a pure confidence that her message will inspire and transform many\, at a time when individual-health\, spirituality\, and life-path clarity is calling. \nTiana Romine\, has lived in Ashland\, Oregon since 2005. She originally grew up in Newbury Park\, California\, and spent several summers as a child playing in the Applegate Valley of Southern Oregon. \nAs an Honorably Discharged Military Veteran of two U.S. branches of service\, she held the highest qualifications available for her ranks\, received many awards\, including Marine of the Quarter\, and was nominated for several boards. She served on both the East and West Coast\, Okinawa\, Japan\, and South Korea. \nIn her career as a corporate business process manager\, she traveled the country working 60 to 70-hour weeks relating closely with IT while speaking and developing business and technical relationships between well-known and small-business insurance companies. During her time in Internet marketing as an entrepreneur\, she produced branding logos and several independent websites of her own creation and purpose. \nShe also became a prominent blog writer/photographer for the City of Newberg\, interviewing many local businesses. This led to First Friday Art Walk showcasing’s of her work. Being a recreational and pilgrimage world traveler\, she has traveled Paris to Rome\, starting with Notre Dame\, resting in the South of France and Monaco\, exploring Assisi and Florence Italy\, to wrap up with a tour of The Vatican. She recently spent several weeks along The Nile in Egypt from Cairo to Luxor to Aswan exploring Pyramids and Temples. This year she returned from retreat in Rishikesh\, India where she spent time working with children\, meditating in caves in the Himalayas\, and learning Hindu Culture. She will be in Peru for June Solstice\, 2023. \nTiana also holds many certificates across a wide range of educational endeavors from medical to technical to spiritual\, has gathered an abundance of college credits in California and Oregon\, and proudly owns an active local business here on Ashland Street. She enjoys hiking\, backpacking\, travel\, snowboarding\, SUP\, cooking\, gardening\, interior decorating\, drumming\, singing kirtan\, quiet and stillness and most of all\, helping people see the power within themselves through the unconditional lens of love. \nPresenter’s Website: https://theintuitiveconfidant.com \nFREE ADMISSION – 1757 Ashland St.\, Ashland; one mile west of I-5 Exit 14
