SUMMARY:"Nun Better" book launch event coming to Paschal Winery
DESCRIPTION:The author behind the just-released “Nun Better: An Amazing Love Story\,” will have a book launch event from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday\, March 24\, at the Paschal Winery\, 1122 Suncrest Road\, Talent\, according to a news release. \nThe book\, released March 19 from Two Sisters Writing & Publishing\, tells the true story of author Joanie Lindenmeyer and Carol Tierheimer. SUMMARY:Keely and Du
DESCRIPTION:Ashland Contemporary Theatre in collaboration with Livia Genise Productions presents “Keely and Du” directed by Livia Genise. \nThis runner-up for the 1994 Pulitzer Prize explores the relationship of Keely\, a pregnant rape victim and Du\, a right-to-life zealot who Du is confining. Playwright Jane Martin poses the thorny question\, that despite the human need for connection\, is love really possible\, even a mother’s\, when its origin is involuntary? After all\, whose choice is it anyway? There is some described violence in this staged reading\, so audience discretion is advised. \nFeaturing Alayha McNamara as Keely and Jeannine Grizzard as Du\, with John Lambie\, Dan Olson\, and Cynthia Tank. Held March 17-24 at Grizzly Peak Winery and March 25 and 26 at Bellview Grange. Tickets are $20. Visit ashlandcontemporarytheatre.org.

SUMMARY:Richard Lehnert: Poetry Reading and Book Launch
DESCRIPTION:The poems in Richard Lehnert’s new book\, “The Only Empty Place\,” are meticulously crafted and edited\, with a hard-won lyricism as heartstrong as it is leached of sweetness\, and powerful undertows of deep feeling. These poems are the distillation of a long and closely examined life. The writing is honest and self-searching\, with dry\, dark humor. “The Only Empty Place” can serve as a handbook for those who delight in rigorous poetic craft when used to conduct deep moral inquiry\, as well as for those who want to read examples of how the disciplined use of plain\, direct speech can produce poems that hurt to read even as they heal. As Lehnert himself says\, “These poems are the best of me.” \nRichard Lehnert’s first book\, “A Short History of the Usual\,” was published in 2003. His poems have appeared in Poetry\, Barrow Street\, The Southern Review\, The Sun\, Prairie Schooner\, The Spoon River Poetry Review\, Rattle\, Spillway\, Mid-American Review\, Chautauqua\, The Laurel Review\, Commonweal\, and many other journals. He has lived in Ashland since 2011. \nThe reading will take place at Bloomsbury Books\, 290 E. Main St.\, Ashland.

SUMMARY:ACCESS Senior Fair
DESCRIPTION:The 2023 ACCESS Senior Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday\, April 4\, at the Medford Armory\, 1701 S. Pacific Highway. \nThis will be a great opportunity to connect again in person while sharing needed resources with our seniors\, their families\, and each other. We have a broad selection of vendors who will offer an information-based resource fair for seniors\, their families and others who provide care and services to this population. There is no cost to attend. \nLive music will be provided by Rockafairy\, an emerging non-profit with a desire to connect more with our local senior population. Primarily this will be solo singer/songwriters with a focus on older music\, but we hope there will be one trio including a stand-up base. \nNot only will we have a bingo room with local celebrity callers from Newswatch Channel 12\, but we will also have a bingo game for attendees to increase engagement with vendors. Upon entry attendees will receive a double-sided sheet with vendor business names and a blackout bingo offering.
