SUMMARY:Creative Industries Discussion: Christine Hudson
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Thursday\, October 10 at 2 pm for a Creative Industries Discussion with our 2024 SOU VAST (Visiting Artist & Scholar in Teaching) resident Christine Hudson. \nABOUT THE ARTIST\nChristine Hudson is an artist that works in ceramics\, sculpture\, performance and installation. Their art situates personal narrative as an entry point to integrate discussions of community\, care\, resistance\, and resilience. Their utilization of objects and space investigate the ways visual language can be employed as a powerful tool for archiving histories that are often erased\, overlooked\, or rendered silent. By highlighting the subtle tensions between the varying degrees of visibility\, their practice imagines a rethinking of what preserving these marginalized untold stories entails\, creating a space for healing\, remembrance\, and empowerment. These explorations prompt viewers to reflect on the enduring influence of history and traditions on our lives and collective consciousness. \nMore Information at christinejhudson.com \nFree event parking is available in designated lots. \nThursday\, October 10\, 2024 from 2-3 PM\nSOU Meese Auditorium – Art Building (next to the SMA)\n555 Indiana Street | Ashland OR 97520\nFREE\, and open to the public | FREE Parking

SUMMARY:Welcome to Fall & Newcomers' Night
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for Calm Abiding Meditation at 6:00 pm\, followed by a talk by Lama Pema and Lama Yeshe. They will provide an introduction to Buddhism and give an overview of the upcoming programs offered at KSC. All are welcome. Bring your questions about the season’s events! \nAfter the guided meditation practice\, there will be a welcome and introduction to the classes and offerings this fall and winter. This gathering is sometimes lovingly called “Newcomers’ Night” because it is a great way for new people to meet sangha members and learn about the many ways to become involved at KSC. Simultaneously\, many long-time members also like to attend to celebrate the start of a new season of deep and rich learning. \nCalm Abiding meditation is common to many traditions of Buddhism. In this practice\, we rest our attention on a simple meditative support\, such as the breath. Instead of following thoughts and emotions as we usually do\, we release them and maintain our connection to the support. \nTo attend Calm Abiding Meditation via Zoom\, email the office at OFFICE@KSCASHLAND.ORG to join the mailing list.

SUMMARY:Sunday Service: Power\, Poverty\, and Mutuality
DESCRIPTION:When we think of poverty\, we often think of an absence of material wealth. However\, a deeper and more pervasive poverty is an absence of community and mutuality. Drawing on their own story and experiences working in street ministry\, SOUUP Intern Minister Eli Poore invites us all to explore how mutuality and connection can elevate all communities. \n“If there is no friendship with and no sharing of the life of the poor\, then there is no authentic commitment to liberation\, because love exists only among equals.” -Gustavo Gutiérrez \nAttend in person or watch live or recorded on our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@roguevalleyunitarianuniver8871

SUMMARY:Layers of the Heart and Our Evolving Bodies by Soleil Aurose
DESCRIPTION:After Soleil shares some personal background and client’s experience\, she will invite the audience on a Layers of the Heart Journey-Meditation. Soleil will demonstrate how our epigenetic factors relate to the layers of our Auric fields\, and she will discuss the safe ways to open to higher energies and ways that can lead to Spiritual emergencies. \nSoleil will share a client’s experience of her Aurose Process to highlight\, how and why the body consciousness stores memories from past lives\, how completing those experiences and bringing former self energies back to the embodied soul center clears the epigenetic field over groups of cells. After this the pure cellular consciousness can be contacted for further healing instructions. \nSoleil Aurose is a traveler of the worlds\, having visited 50 outer countries and many more inner realms. Her profession as a Spiritual Evolutionary Somatic Facilitator draws from all of her life experiences\, educational studies including a Masters in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology from JFK University\, and her knowledge is continuously expanded by each client she works with. \nThe core of Soleil’s ‘Aurose Process’ is her Layers of the Heart guidance. Soleil has given workshops and trainings in seven countries and presented at conferences in the US\, Germany\, and India.
