SUMMARY:Class: Creating Genetic Networks from DNA Matches
DESCRIPTION:You’ve had your DNA tested and received a list of matches\, now what? \nIn order to apply your DNA results to genealogy\, you must first understand how a match is related to you. The first step in doing this is to organize your matches into genetic networks\, which will show you which branch of your family tree they belong to. Jeanne Hoadley will demonstrate step by step how to use the Leeds method and the ancestry dot system to group your matches into genetic networks. An afternoon help session will follow from 1:00 – 3:00 so that you can practice your new skills with mentors standing by to help you if you get stuck. \nCost: $10 members\, $20 non-members. \nRegistration closes at noon on April 16. This class will be recorded and made available to those who registered for 30 days\nRegister at RVGSLibrary.org>Classes and Events>Registration

SUMMARY:ART ON FIRST: An Artful Life\, Solo Exhibition John Palombo
DESCRIPTION:Currently featured at ART on FIRST are nature inspired paintings by John Palombo. With just enough challenges growing up to gain some deep colors and spectrums in his life\, John has made use of the follies and torture of being human and turned them into joy and happiness by finding something that truly speaks to his soul – visiting remote natural areas and painting. \nJohn loves color and creating color. His focus has always been on landscapes of Southern Oregon\, particularly Southeastern Oregon. When creating a composition\, John’s interest is to translate the magic that he sees in the world and in nature onto his surface. With this\, he hopes to inspire his viewers to find the same magic\, or something that is personal to just them. \nFor more information\, please visit www.artonfirstashland.com. \nMonday\, March 31 – Monday\, April 28\, 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. \nOpening Reception: Friday\, April 4\, 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

SUMMARY:Thursday Evening Calm Abiding Meditaion
DESCRIPTION:This meditation is common to many traditions of Buddhism. In this practice\, we rest our attention on a simple meditative support\, such as the breath. Instead of following thoughts and emotions as we usually do\, we release them and maintain our connection to the support. \n“From this practice\, we can experience a stable and calm mind. We learn to maintain and return to a sense of stillness\, no matter what our outer circumstances. The mind is relaxed\, alert and aware. The results of this practice are serenity\, freedom in the face of circumstances\, and ultimately Buddhahood.” \nFrom Meditation for Beginners\, by Bokar Rinpoche. \nTo attend Calm Abiding Meditation via Zoom\, email the office at OFFICE@KSCASHLAND.ORG to join the mailing list. \n

SUMMARY:Maundy Thursday Service at Trinity
DESCRIPTION:This service begins the Great Three Days\, the Church’s Passover feast of liberation from the powers of sin and death. \nTonight we commemorate Jesus’ last supper with his disciples and his new commandment to love as he loves. We celebrate the signs he gave them to confirm this teaching: washing one another’s feet as he washed theirs; blessing and sharing the bread and wine that he told them would be his body and blood. Participation in the foot-washing is optional. If you wish to receive washing of feet\, please remember to wear shoes and socks that are easy to remove. Those who participate will have the opportunity to wash another’s feet after their own have been\, but if you are unable to kneel to perform this service\, or prefer not to\, ministers will be standing by to do it for you. This was also the night in which one of Jesus’ disciples betrayed him\, and so we conclude this service with the solemn stripping of the altar\, and by reserving bread and wine for our communion on Good Friday. We will depart the church in darkness and silence. Some will return throughout the night to keep quiet vigil with the reserved sacrament\, as Jesus waited and watched in the Garden of Gethsemane. You can sign up for an hour or more of the vigil on the sheet in the narthex. 44 N 2nd St\, Ashland\, OR\, 97520 \nThe services of the Holy Week form a single great liturgy. Their meaning and power is cumulative\, bringing participants deep into contemplation of the mystery of Christ’s passion and resurrection. That said\, even if it only possible to attend one of these services\, each highlights a particular aspect of the great Christian drama of redemption. \nFor more information\, see https://www.trinitychurchashland.org or https://www.facebook.com/TrinityAshland.
