Learn ways to transform thoughts and behaviors that drain energy\, increase anxiety\, and create feelings of isolation and mistrust. Strengthen your self-awareness and practice tools you can use to regulate your emotions through a focus on gratitude. \nHow important is this in life? Researchers say that regularly giving thanks can make us happier. \nYou’ll leave this workshop with an understanding of tools to create resiliency and lifelong health and well-being. You will learn and practice ways to: \nCultivate daily mindfulness\nBuild resiliency and your capacity for joy\nBe aware of your attention and how to direct it to create greater happiness and well-being\nPractice empathy and self-compassion\nCreate a healthy and positive “inner landscape” based in love and respect

SUMMARY:Homelessness in our region
DESCRIPTION:Echo Fields\, a retired Southern Oregon University sociology professor\, will join the Jefferson Center for a discussion on homelessness in our region from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday\, Nov. 17\, at the Jefferson Center\, located in the Old Ashland Armory\, 208 Oak St.\, Ashland. \nThe discussion will focus on key issues related to homelessness. These include problems in gathering reliable data on the homeless population; how this information relates to stereotypes about homelessness arising from stigma\, emotion\, and punitive impulses; what needs to change in our social systems in order to implement solutions to homelessness; and what kinds of actions individuals and nonprofit organizations might undertake. \nThe event is part of the Salon Series at the Jefferson Center\, a Rogue Valley nonprofit focused on critical thinking using secular humanist values to understand and engage with issues important to our community.
