SUMMARY:Heroines in the History of Botany: The Americans
DESCRIPTION:Though their names have been largely forgotten\, indigenous and pioneering women were deeply involved in plant knowledge\, exploration\, collecting\, and cultivation from the earliest days of our country. Join us as we uncover the names and contributions of these remarkable heroines of days gone by. \nClassically trained at the UCLA Landscape Architecture program\, presenter Lucretia Weems is a Jackson County Master Gardener and has been designing gardens in the Rogue Valley for over 15 years. Her lectures on history and landscape design have been enjoyed around Jackson County\, and her first book\, “This Wild Life\, Heroines in the History of Botany 1650-1850\,” was published in 2023. \nCopies of the book will be available for purchase at the event.
